I stopped Cerakoting pistol slides after my first one. I've been getting the nitride option and just waiting the extra two weeks. JagerWerks Nitride is awesome.

I hadn't shot in a couple months just given life and the cold ... didn't do any dry fire or anything either.

Did some shooting last weekend with dot and it was like riding a bike.  Present - dot - bang.  Solid hits.

The dot gives confidence.

Thinking the rmr06 or 508t with aftermarket plate for better fitment.

Any advice on refinishing a ceracoated slide after getting it machined for a dot?  As in the slide is currently ceracoted and I want to get it machined. Does that complicate the refinish process?

It shouldn’t complicate the process at all.   Once it’s machined, they’ll media blast the slide to prep it for whatever finish you want after the machine work.   I had Jagerwerks nitride a slide that had been previously ceracoated.

I think I'm going to get one of my 1911s milled for an RMR.  While I'd like to get the Chambers Custom plate/milling, it appears they are out of stock, and attempts to contact them have so far proved unsuccessful.  As my fall back option I think I'll end up going with the Trijicon plate.  Does anyone here have any first-hand knowledge or experience with Southwest Precision Arms for the machine work?  If not, do you have any suggestions for the necessary 1911 cut?

Thanks

PSA on Romeo 1 Shroud Kit:

I got a new Romeo 1 Pro on a 320 XF and ordered the Romeo 1 shroud kit after reading on Sig’s www that the kit is for both optics. The screws that came with the kit didn’t work so I contacted CS and they said to use the original screws that came with the pistol. They said the screws with the shroud are for the slides cut for the Romeo 1.

Contrary to the poster above me, I have fairly small hands and the 19 fits in my hand perfectly. If I were you I'd try shooting, or at least handling, both before making a decision.

Recommend the 45, alot more recoil control imo then i have with a 19. Plus 2 more rounds is cool!

This is good advice. Having both and larger than average hands, I like the way they both feel, handle and shoot. I would buy either again.

I have an mos 19.5 that the slide will get swapped to my 45 or 19x at some point. If CC isn't an issue then the full frame mid size slide is perfect imo

Well, I had a 19 that I liked ok, but it was a little too small for my hands....... I will probably go G45 since my 17 fits my hands better....... any recommendations for threaded barrel, suppressor height sights and RMR? I am going all the way downtown with this project, and am going to throw a light on it........ I was going to send my 19x off to be milled, but didn’t want to mess it up and I have a GSSF coupon to use

Dot = easy mode with good fundamentals

My 11 YO at 13 yards, slowfire.  This was last year.

He has only recently shown an interest in pistol shooting and only shot maybe 250 pistol rounds total in the last 2 years (he likes 22 rifles better). However - he does have a good instructor

Definitely don't get another 19 if you already know better. GL-429 sights are good for a milled slide, not sure if they are high enough for a MOS. The RMR will serve you well.

I use 429's exclusively on MOS guns, works great with the RMR and 509T.

You can actually go lower on most milled slide guns.

429s are ordered for mine, I don't typically like tall sights but this is a different application than normal.

429s work great.

Ameriglo makes a front sight that is .285 and a matching rear.  I have that on a maple leaf milled gun, and a set of .270 Dawson’s on my primary machine setup.  They work really well.  My preference is to have them as low as possible.

Just checked and primary machine uses Ameriglo so i think they are 429s. I don't even notice them. Maybe I'll go lower on the 17 I'm about to have done.

Recently bought a P10C Optics Ready as my first RDS pistol and mounted a 507c. Zero'd it this weekend and let the wife put a few rounds through it. It'll be replacing the non-dot P10C on duty as soon as the holster comes in.

My new EDC, once I get a chance to get it zero'd.

The other RDS gun I've been messing with.  It will have a 509T mounted later this month, once CHPWS starts shipping their 509T plates for the VP9.

An enclosed emitter optic is easier to clean, IMHO:

So what backup irons is everyone using? AmeriGlo recommended their 3XL to give a lower 1/3 co-witness but I'm thinking that might be too high.
