Haven't shot anything but target ammo in it yet, but it is not bad at all.  It's a bit weighty, which takes up much of the recoil.  As far as the grips, it is fine with the short grip, but you can put a longer one on it if desired.

Thank you! The top is indeed the 6-1/2" model, while the bottom is formerly a 6" with a donor 4" barrel (I wanted to be able to carry it for CCW occasionally).

And I have long admired Elmer Keith!  (P.S- I do believe Mr. Keith was partial to the 5" barrel).

I had one just like it that I bought at around the same time.  Was an excellent gun. Yeah...  Sold it a few years later.  But I have a like new 629-4 4 inch now and a Super Redhawk.  Would love to have that 629 Classic back.  A friend has it and I don't think he is ever going to part with it.

342Ti, made 7/24/2000 Since this photo I added an XS standard dot tritium front sight and an Apex duty/carry kit. Just picked up a Galco ankle glove, I think I might start carrying it on my ankle as a back up. Still looking for a pair of SL Variant speed loaders to go with it.

Just snagged this S&W US Army Model 1917 for the unbelievable price of $500.

She's in super tight mechanical condition, the finish is amazing for a 100 year old wheel gun, she didn't go through a re-arsenal, all the WWI acceptance stamps are crisp and clear.

Not one of my usual humble brag threads of where I rob the evidence locker but I think I did well.

my two most recent acquisitions, a Smith/Wesson model 60 from 1969. I had it personalized, so it is mine forever, unless your initials are MAG. I bought grips that make it more original.  The second one was won on GunBroker. It is a Smith/Wesson model 10-6. Must have been carried some and shot even less. Except a little muzzle wear, it is pristine.

Stumbled upon a find/deal of a lifetime. Guy walks into the shop with 3 S&W revolvers that had, for the most part been in storage for 20 years+. The finish on all 3 guns was damn near factory new. They were bone dry and the actions so stiff that they were near non functioning. After a solvent bath and a lube job all 3 guns ran like new. Walked out of the shop with all 3 for 1,350.00
