Noticed this while reading the news this morning on Yahoo.com.  This was Saddam's Golden AK that was seized by  US Troops and presented to an Australian Military Memorial Museum in appreciation for their support of the war in Iraq.  Just thought ya'll might like to see it.

I believe they were gifts to members of the bath party and other high ranking officials, theres alot more than just one. I don't think it is Sadam's personal AK, but that maybe the story their selling.

I could go for a Bling Bling AK even though the gold on the barrel would probably start melting off after a few mags of full auto fire.

Right, Saddam had them made.  I say "Saddam's" in that I don't know of any other folks comissioning gold-clad AKs.  You're right, this is probably not Saddam's personal AK.  Didn't mean to suggest that.

Yeah I have a number of pictures of pimptastic Iraqi guns I have collected. They always say they are Saddam's guns. Sometimes an AK and pistol combo sometimes a single AK. One picture has 3 guns that look identical to the one we gave the guys in OZ but ALSO has a silver and blue underfolder complete with what appears to be a Nike "Swoosh" on the pistol grip. I don't know what sport they play or Nike was involved in, in Iraq but its gotta be rough if you need to take your team AK to the game...

I'm Sure Uday and Qusay had more than 1 golden AK. Just what he had around when he met his end.

No that one is actually an AK 105 gold plated in Iraq

There was no Tabuk markings on the gun

Heck there were no markings period not even safe, fire

So I do not think it was an Iraqi made gun they were normally made in traditional AK style not the new 105 barrels
