Is the trigger slap caused by the low quality fire control parts that were put in them when they were imported or did these weapons have this problem with original parts?

Yo X!
Those are some cheap American FCPs...pitch them and buy a RedStar Arms set...its like a completely new weapon.

My SAR1 trigger was smooth, but doubled at least once per mag. Before I got a RSA, I tried a $6 take off trigger set from Tapco just to see what they should be like. The Romy take off had trigger slap! But at least I did not have to explain burst fire to the cops at the range, and I know how superior the RSA is to even the factory trigger set.

Redstar it is then was going to try to cure it with original parts. My next question was going to be is it legal?

Yes it is legal, they are US made parts. You might be able to  "cure" it on the existing parts. I did, but after I shot a RedStar set, and Charles was at Bulletfest... I asked him to swap them on the spot. Best AK improvement money I ever spent!

xman, the redstararms fire control group is like dropping a match trigger in your ak. matter of fact, it is BETTER than my rock river arms dcm/cmp match trigger in my hi-power ar-15.

it's not quite up to my anschutz 54 action ($2600 rifle), but it ain't far behind.

bang for buck, the rsa trigger gets you more accuracy (from a calm, predicable shot release) than any other bolt on option on the market.
