So I built my ar with psa lower, psa lower parts kit, Complete middy mid profile psa upper and a used LMT bcg that I got of here.  I replaced the springs with JP enterprises yellow springs.  I shot some rounds through it both before and after the springs.  Both times it functioned fine.  I went to the range again today and now it's only denting the primer.  I'm using ammo out of the exact same box (xm193f) but also tried some pmc .223 as well as some wolf.  It's just denting primers.  It is denting them more than the tiny little dimple that you get from charging.  Anyone have any clue if this might be something other than the springs?  Is there something I could have done wrong when I cleaned it?

I have the same issue after changing to the JP yellow springs, light primer strike.  Odd thing is it happened 2 out of 50 with 62gr but 0 out of 300+ with the 55gr from the same manufacturer.  I am going to change my springs back to stock and see if it ever happens again.

Your hammer is probably too heavy.  You need to trim some metal off of it.

Look here.

I would try JPS3.5T
This is the Yellow/Red combo that is mentioned here sometimes. The softer yellow trigger spring is retained but a stronger (red) hammer spring is used.

You could also try retaining the yellow trigger spring and swapping back in your stock hammer spring.

Put your stock hammer spring back in.

I would go with this.

The yellow hammer spring is not strong enough with your mil-spec hammer.  Easiest solution is to use your original hammer spring.  You could lighten your hammer removing the top hook making it look more like a JP Speed Hammer.  The red hammer spring from JP would have been the better choice.

I know this is a silly question.  Light primer strikes on a normal spring has been found to be the spring put back in upside down.   double check that and then and if the issue still exists follow the advice from most here .... put the old one back in and eliminate the problem.

This.  Many times the hammer spring is not installed properly.  (backwards).

However, some people WILL get light strikes with a yellow spring.

My opinion is never waste money messing around with a factory trigger.  Either use your factory trigger and enjoy it, and if you are going to spend money, spend it on a decent trigger upgrade, like a RRA 2-stage, or if you want the best in reliability, go for the Geissele.

Thats actually exactly what it was.  I was looking at it later that night then it hit me how incredibly stupid that was.  Thanks for the help. Aside from that I haven't had a single light strike with that yellow hammer spring using all sorts of different ammo, including some xm193 and xm855.
