I was wondering if someone had some time if they could put together a list of tools they think is needed to build and mod AR 15's.

I have not done 1 yet and know nothing really about building them except for there are different tools for stocks and barrel nuts and such. i would like to know whats needed and maybe whats not needed or something you could sub in its place.

Any help would be appreciated . TY.

If you have a complete upper already, and need to assemble the rest, this is what I used.

Duct tape (to prevent scratching the finish)
LARGE screw driver (for grip screw)
small hammer
Razor blade (to help install front takedown detent/spring)
AR-15 stock wrench (castle nut?)

That's about it.

It would be helpful if you had a nice brass punch set, but I did not.  I used a smaller hammer and improvised with a drill bit as the punch for a couple taps.  It is super easy to put together an AR-15 lower.

I just ordered this

When it arrives i figure to put on some MOE handguards until i can afford some Fancy rails. Or maybe i just stick with them who knows.
This is my first rifle and it is going on a DPMS AP4 lower. But there is a few things i want to change.
