Hey Folks,

Tomorrow I am going down to the local gun shop (who I ordered my first stripped lower through and suspiciously suddenly started keeping a stock of them ever since ) to pick up another stripped lower.  BRD has not died in me yet!  Anyways, this time around I have decided to build a 6.8 SPC on a stripped upper (I enjoyed building my last AR from total stripped lower and upper, and want to do the same again...).  I have done only a quick Google search with minor success, so am turning to you here who helped me through my first successful build.  So here is what I am looking for:

A "decent" priced 6.8 barrel (this is a shooter not a match gun so don't need bull barrel or match grade), preferably 18", no FSB since I am not sure yet if I want to go with a carry handle/standard FSB or go with flip up front sight and gas block yet.

Anyone know where to start looking?  Also, any suggestions on a reliable 6.8 Bolt carrier group?

Thanks,
Brian

I am 99% decided on this one.  They will do the SAAMI II chamber on request.

Cardinal Armory (formerly Ko-Tonics) does excellent work at an excellent price.

Sweet, thanks for the info guys!  I also found out LMT makes 6.8 bolt carrier groups too, and so far I have been quite pleased with my .223/5.56 I have right now and may go with them.

Just finished and shot my first build.  It's got a White Oak Armament barrel on it. I am more than please and the price was very reasonable with bolt included.

+1. I just ordered my 6.8 for my MRP so I had to go with the LMT setup but if I was building for a normal AR I would go with Kotonics/Cardinal Armory.

Cardinal armory or ar15performance.com Tim and Harrison are both stand up guys who do great work.

Stay away from M1S, they only have the early 1 in 9.5 twist.

+1

Until the industry standard is changed and everyone plays ball, I'm sticking with the SPC or DMR chamber and 1:11 twist

I have a Ko-Tonics (now Cardinal Armory) barrel and am very pleased. Honestly there is nobody else I would go with.

I ordered a Kotonics from Rainier.  Shipped same day and was the cheapest price I found on the 18" barrel.

I'd heard about that, I had issues with the chrome in the chamber but none in the bore itself. This wasn't the fault of Ko-tonics, and they are handling the issue as well as can be expected. They have absolutely amazing customer service and handle issues better than most. They have barrels out there that are still available and the majority do not have issues, and if yours does Tim is more than willing to do what it takes to make it right. I'd say go ahead and start getting everything else you want for your build and buy the time you have purchased this and assembled it Tim will be back up and running with his barrels again.
