Nothing wrong with steel case ammo, period. However, on a new rifle that isnt broken in, it might not cycle 100%. This has nothing to do with steel cases... but that all common steel cased ammo is a little weak on the powder charge... and wont reliably cycle all weapons, especially when new. I cant tell you how many I have built that ran 100% with Wolf/Barnaul right out of the box tho. |

I can always tell when a person I just bought a used upper from was using steel case, though. A chunk of the finish is knocked off the very end of the brass deflector. I shoot mine a lot with brass cases (never tried import ammo in .223), and all I get is a brass-colored spot there (no finish wear). Slightly irritating to your buyers of your used stuff, but in no way a deal breaker for using cheap steel-cased ammo. |
