I recently purchased an muller speed shot. http://www.opticsplanet.com/mueller-speed-shot-1-4-24mm-rifle-scope.html
With iron I always move the elevation mark click away from 8/3 and zero my rifle at 25 meters for 300 meters. Would I do the same with my scope or do I need to zero my rifle at further or closer distance?

Since that scope doesn't have a ballistic drop calibrated reticle, you can zero for three hundred with a 25-meter compensated target, available here. Ttake care to select the target that's right for your barrel length. It will probably be best to zero on 4X setting.

With a scope, its just down to your preference.  If you're familiar with your holdovers on 25/300 thats fine, but dont trust you'll be on at 300 if you've only shot at 25.  Ideally you need to zero at 300 to be sure.

Me, I dont like being so far off at 100y, so I use a 50/200 zero.  YMMV
