| Was shooting this today and had the primer blown completely out of the case. Independence 55 gr ball not a reload. Rifle was a 16" M4 also suppressed if that makes a difference. Curious if anyone else had this issue with this ammo. |

Curious if anyone else had this issue with this ammo. Not uncommon. Several people reported some lots of this stuff was WAY on the hot side. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_16/689155_Independence_Ammo_running_a_bit_Fast.html http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_2_381/254312_My_KAC_SR_15_11_5andamp_quot____Independence_M193___Blown_Primers_andamp__Bulged_Brass.html https://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_16/622051_.html&page=1 https://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_126/657071_.html&page=1 https://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_16/696540_.html |

IMHO.... I avoid Independence 5.56... my recorded velocities were way higher then anything else in the 55gr FMJ range.... as in 3343 FPS in my 20" barrel.
That kind of velocity "boost" can not happen without excess pressure. And I will second the "plenty of reports of problems".....especially when it was first released. |
| Ive heard of problems, but I have shot a couple thousand rds of the Independence in 5.56 and never had a single issue. Back a few years ago PSA had them for like 5.80 a box I ordered a boatload of it, its all gone now but it served me well. I will agree though that it was on the hot side compared to lake city and others. |

We used it as our practice ammo. (LE) Had cases and cases of it. Over pressured. Constant blown primers that caused a lot of problems. Sent all of it back. I'm avoiding it from now on personally. GT dist was blowing that stuff out - probably for that reason. |
