You probably should read through:

and probably more specifically:

193 is 55gr bullet weight, lead core, copper jacket, boattail
855 is 63gr bullet weight, lead core with a steel tip, copper jacket, boattail, tip is painted green.

Both have comparable muzzle velocity.
Some indoor ranges don't allow any steel in bullets fired on their range.
One is not particularly any better for plinking at 75 yards than the other.

M855 is 62gr and does not always have a green tip.

I was not trying to be an ass with my post.

The problem is everyone has a different idea of 'better'
The ammo oracle changed my whole outlook.

xm855 is better for outdoors plinking if your goal is to punch holes in metal targets and stuff.  The steel penetration tip gives it a slight edge at that.

The only real difference for plinking and informal target practice is length.  The 62gr longer, getting close to 75-77gr length.  If you rifle does not have the twist to stabilize it, it will suck and the whole expierence will be miserable.  IF you have a 1/12 twist, use M193.  If you have 1/9-1/7, shoot whatever is cheaper.
