Does anyone know where I can score some South African .223?  My brother uses the SA .308 in his FAL and he swears by it, so I imagine the .223 would be of comparable quality.

Thanks!

The 5.56 [NOT 223] SA was/is excellent stuff. Every once in a while I run across it. 1200 rounds last show was picked up by me from a  dealer I have done business with for many years. It is out there but not in great supply and usually it is gone as fast as it hits the shelf. What you will find is old stock, as nothing has come in from SA in 5.56 in years. Still hot and pretty much right at 193 spec still.  I don't think I've ever had a problem shooting this ammo. Best battle pack design out there. Pull tab and rip open, excellent plastic, still soft and pliable years later.

I picked up 1500 rounds a few months ago for $150.  A  guy at work said his buddy was selling all his guns and ammo.  He brought in a sealed battle pack for me to see and told me he wanted 10 cent a round.  I quickly relieved him of his remaining stash.  Great ammo if you can find it.

Summer of 2002 (i think) i bought a case through AIM - 2700 rounds- 9 battlepacks- for something like 310 delivered in a nice hard plastic carton that i still use.  I have 3 or 4 left- hot ammo, i decided to put back the rest.  only negative is it is berdan primed if you reload.

If you are in the DFW, Texas area, I will sell you a couple of packs.
I have a couple thousand extra rounds.
How much do they go for?

I found a shop that has SA 5.56mm in thin 30rnd. boxes for $7.00 each. Should I buy it?

SA ammo has been harder to find than hens teeth down here especialy the old battlepacks.

I bought a few battlepacks a couple years ago for plinking. Now it's been elevated to "do not touch" status.

$ .10 a round seems to be the last posted price.  I'll match it for any amount you have.

I'm shooting the last of my Denel Lot 2 .223 ammo this weekend at the big VA Hometown shoot... about 1000 rounds or so...

Rather use that then my stash of XM193...

I bought 1200 rounds from ammoman a couple of years ago.  It's good stuff.  Wish I would have bought a lot more.

Me too, I'm down to less than 3 full battlepacks. I wish I had been smart enough to really
load up when the stuff was available just a relatively short time back.
