Just reserving my space for my upcoming "Ultimate" CMMG .22 build

18" CMMG Stainless Bull Match barrel, Crowned to perfection
CMMG Stainless, tuned, locking BCG matched to the barrel via a 5.56 barrel extension
Revolution Upper receiver with right hand ejection
Midwest Industries Gen ll SS 15" hand guard

I am so looking forward to this one.

I received basically what Dave N described for pre-release testing. Thought it would be built but by coming in parts allowed for a much closer
inspection. Years ago, I offered a few suggestions to CMMG to improve their first generation 22 conversion based on my testing. They took
those suggestions, expanded greatly on them and came up with the Evolution System. That was a huge leap forward in AR-22 technology.
With the release of this upper system, it's difficult coming up with words descriptive and worthy enough to do justice. By design, this
upper is capable of giving the ultimate in 22 LR accuracy. Possibly equal to that of a Super Accurate Match Bolt Rifle. Lock up is going
to be extremely good with this new design. Flexability of the upper receiver to be set up left or right handed, How can anyone out do that?
With this, CMMG has gone so far above the competition it's indescribable. The competition is still landing on the Moon, CMMG has left
the Galaxy and is in Interstellar Travel......
On a scale of 1 to 5,,,,, This is 10.....

The pictures of the barrel shows a target that I have to try to beat. It was shot at the factory by PROTOSNYPER at 50 yards with a modest
scope. I'm going to have to break out all of my best accessories and attempt to do better.... I have 2 other uppers that could group similarly.
Both are one of a kind builds that were done over the years. I place the value / investment in those 2 at somewhere Well Over $1,000.00 Each.
If CMMG can produce this upper for anything less. It's a tremendous / overwhelming winner for anyone wanting the ultimate AR-22.
BTW: Match Chambered Too......It'll be a little Ammo Finicky ??? I do need to figure out which hand guard to use... Decisions, Decisions???

A dime completely covers 5 shots at 50 yards as seen in the first picture. Right and left side of the upper receiver are shown in the next 2 pictures
Of course this is set up right handed for me.

LOL. No, the target from Chris.
I'm still waiting on my hand guard from M.I.

is that a plastic upper ?

Nope. Anodized aluminum with polymer panels.

Remember this Anschutz barreled upper by AzizaVFR?:  http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_15/441890_22_Conversions___Dedicated_22_s__22_Builds___Range_Reports__Ammo__Tips__Tricks__Insight_and_More_.html&page=2#i4134373

I've seen a similar 50 yard group shot with Eley ammo that was posted in the late Kurt Wala's KKF site - Douglas barrel KKF style that was chambered for the drop-in with 5.56 shaped chamber adapter.

So the new CMMG should easily, we hope, equal or beat these groups.  I'll be waiting for the range reports from you guys.

I sure can't wait to get these headed out the door.  I have been whacking squirrels over the last week with mine.

Like Dave said, the upper is aluminum.  The replaceable covers are30% glass filled nylon.  These can be mixed and matched in all kinds of crazy ways.

Love the furniture John! That's what I would like to do with mine.
The connection between the barrel and BCG is the very best concept I've seen in a .22 conversion set up.

Any chance of covers in OD?

And what's that optic you're running?

Edited to add:  U.S. Optics??

We don't have any immediate plans for OD since the color hasn't been really popular for a while(compared to FDE)

If it regains popularity, we will do it in a heartbeat.

That is a US Optics scope

John: That's one of the nicest builds I've ever seen. I love multi color firearms WITH GREEN MIXED IN TOO..

I'm searching for a super long rail. I want to try some prone sniper style shooting with a bi-pod. I did put what I have together
without a rail and made a quick range run. It is a little ammo finicky as we thought but I like to break in with copper washed
bullets. Similar to the Clint Beyer Build I did a ways back, bulk ammo accuracy was pretty good. 1/4" ish groups at 25 yards.
That's off a bench without a rifle rest. Not bad at all, considering. For a new barrel that's great. As the round count goes up and
I move to better grade ammo, I suspect the 5 shot groups at 25 yards to go well under that. Best I've ever shot with an AR-22
was measured at 0.025 CTC for 5 shots at 25 yards. Time and round count will tell a story here. I think it'll be a rewarding
experience. I can't do 50 yards till Ron and I get out. May even try 100 yards if it's a calm day. I'll post targets as things get
even better. Wolf MT, CCI Green Tag, Eley, Aguila and others are in the future for this upper....

I used a WalMart CenterPoint Scope. If you get a good one, they are Fantastic for the price...

So is this THE most accurate AR-22 I have been waiting without spending $800 on for so long? Your initial group seems to lean that way. I have been waiting for a long time for an honest to goodness 1/2" shooter. I went to CMMG website and there is no listing for an 18" bull match barrel on the 'regular' or Revo uppers. Nothing came up in searches on their site. All the uppers are government profile and sporting chamber with the Revo uppers having a Campbells soup of unexplained acronyms. CM, RDH, RMU, FDE, etc, etc and nothing I could find to clarify what exactly any of it means - even from the catalog. Very odd indeed.

What is the cost going to be on this unit when will it actually be available for sale and from whom?

We are field testing at this point. CMMG will have to answer on the pricing but should be pretty good compared
to what you can currently piece together now with a comparable accuracy...

Two trips to the range and so far this is what I have got
50 yards, 5 shot

I'm going to get new glass this week. I was shooting these with a UTG 4-16 scope

Oddly, the best, consistant grouping was with CCI Mini Mags. .446
Does't really seem to like Wolf MT

Nice groups!

I'm not suprised by the fondness of mini-mags. My Walther UIT loves them over wolf or even Eley!  They are up there for my MkII as well.

Thank you............this is just what I need for a great accuracy build. I want to have an AR 22 to out shoot my buddy's Savage Bolt

Sooo... this seems to be THE upper for accuracy and not speed shooting eh? So CMMG has no ideas? A month? A year?

If CMMG did give you a date, you still wouldn't know until it was released..

After the Revo Mag release issues they ran into caused by suppliers, I am sure we will get a notice that they are available to ship rather then to pre-order them.  I know a lot of people got butt hurt over a shipping date.

I have not heard a word about when on this upper. Like any new product it ends up taking longer than you expected. As has been mentioned, CMMG got stuck in the middle before when their suppliers didn't get things done in time. No one likes to see this so I think they have learned their lessons. Also, sometimes things look great but when the first parts come in you find out they are not as you expected. Then you have to get this worked out. This precision .22 upper is a challenge. Its difficult to mass produce this sort of rifle, keeping everything so perfect so they will shoot consistently well. This is not just some bull barrel stuck on top of an AR. There is a lot of engineering and machining on this baby.

When its actually shipping, we will all know its available.

I'll just check back every month or so and hope they get them rolling soon.
