So with all the boredom I've had with my guns lately, I started thinking of LEGALLY building a SBR in .45ACP and throwing in a silencer to boot.  I'm kind of new to the pistol caliber thing, but I've been told that the .45 is easier to quiet down due to sub sonic speeds, over the 9mm.  Besides, I have a LOT of .45ACP and reloading stuff for it.
I did some reading here, but canot figure out who makes .45 parts yet.
Any help?
Thanks in advance.

Olympic Arms currently makes the only .45 ACP upper I know of.
Be forewarned tho, because mags are expensive and hard to find. . .

Oly is the only "commercial" producers that I am aware of also. Hi-caps are expensive and harder to find, 10 rd isn't.  There are some guys here making (as a home project) hi-cap .45 cal mags out of sten mags.

Or..... you can wait for one of the AR mfg's(me?) to make a dedicated .45 lower using 30 rd. M3 GG mags

the 45 is easier to go with because normal ammo is subsonic, but it will be loader than subsonic 9mm, due to more escaping gases.

If you want good queit, you could get an integral suppressed upper. Overall length still around 16", so no need for an SBR.

Oly is really the only game in town for  45 uppers.

At the top of AR15 forum (second from top) is the NFA forum, there was a recent thread about such an upper IIRC.
