Magpul is now shipping their MOE Rifle Stock to their dealers, distributors, and customers.
"Magpul Original Equipment (MOE) is a line of firearm accessories designed to provide a high-quality, economical alternative to standard weapon parts. The MOE line distinguishes itself with a simplified feature set, but maintains Magpul engineering and material quality. The Magpul MOE Rifle Stock is a drop-in replacement for AR15/M16 A1 and A2 rifle stocks utilizing the standard rifle-length receiver extension (buffer tube). Designed as a basic upgrade, the stock features integral 1.25" sling loop, optional dual-side front and rear QD mounting points, replaceable anti-slip rubberized butt-pad, and internal storage compartment accessible through the rear storage door. Light weight, good cheek weld, smoother cycling of the weapon, and an all around good feel make this one stand out. |

That doesn't mean there isn't a market, but when you compare it to the other stocks it isn't even close. Combine the small market with the idea this is part of the MOE lineup meant for OEM applications, and its not hard to figure out why Magpul went with this size first. Will they do a shorter variant? I've got no idea, but I'm sure it is something they have at least considered. What's the nut at the end closest to the rifle? Some kind of clamp? Is it going to come in other colors or is the moe stuff only black? ( I admit I should know that)

Magpul is shipping the new stocks out at the end of last week and this week, so retailers should be getting them in as we all read this. You would need a spacer to use a Carbine Buffer, or use an A5 length extension, plus an A5 buffer. Either way, adding a tube a spacer, or a tube and buffer, would add to the cost of what is a niche market. |

I got mine in, the whole kit, from PSA today. If my brownells order gets here tomorrow I'll have it installed tomorrow night..
Its smaller than I imagined it would be, and it is light, but feels solid. Wanted to try it out, and a fixed stock in general, while I wait for a Vltor A5 buffer tube to come back in stock somewhere.. |

I've installed two. Fit and feel are superior to the a2 stock. I'm ditching my prs stocks. I have no need for adjustable cheek rests and they are far lighter.

It slips right over the tube, no spacer. Mounts in about 10 seconds on a rifle length tube.
As far a storage, there is a lot of room in there. I'm waiting on a lower to arrive for a specific build before I get a writeup on GearScout. |

It really is as simply as pulling one screw, sliding the old stock off, then putting the new stock on without using the old spacer and screwing it back together. The only spring that could come out is on the lower, and its not one that is under much pressure. Look for it when you pull the stock off and you will see it sticking out. |
