not an expert but I think Colt, Bushmaster and NDS receivers have forging markings... not sure about DPMS or Oly...

I'm not familiar with the "R" forge mark, but this thread should get you on track towards finding out. (As well as getting in contact with the guys in the retro forum)

That "R", in conjunction with the curved arrow, indicates the direction in which turn the sight wheel in order to move the aperture to the right. |
