[Last Edit: vermont2nd]
Of all the threads that are tacked, I don't really see any specifically on  AR pistol uppers (barrels less the 16").  So, I thought I'd start one.  The purpose of this thread is to list manufactuers/links that offer pistol uppers and a summery of their products.  The reason I am doing this is, the market is changing, new places offer uppers for AR pistols keep popping up.  I read a thread and saw a company that I did not recoginze, but the description of their product seems interesting.  I figured that listing a bunch of companies in one thread that offer pistol stuff, it would make a Newbie's search easier....

If anyone has a company, please add it.  I'll try to edit my original post so that the information is right on the top posting.  (I might creat a few blanks spots right below this post for future expanision incase the original posting gets filled).

Bohica
5.56 barrel lengths from 6.25" to 8.8".  Offers an unique gas block that allows custom tuning for different loads or use of suppressor.  Also has 50 Beowulf uppers for pistols.
This site also has a chart that shows the different velocities that different barrel lengths have.  To view this chart, click here: Velocity from different barrel lengths  This is from this perticular company's barrel, so other barrels maybe different, but it gives a indication of what to expect (and for those who are curiouse).

Olympic Arms
.223 6.5" self contained upper that does not require a recoil tube.

Model 1 Sales
7.5"-11.5" AR pistol uppers in 223.  A 11.5" 7.62x39 is available.  AR pistol parts also (barrels alone)

Gunsmoke Enterprises
8" barreled upper.  Barrel only available.
*Questionable dealings- buyer beware (added 5/27/2006)

CMMG, Inc.
Sells DPMS* Kitty Kat uppers (7.5").  Also available 10.3" & 11.5".  Used Colt uppers. (sells on site)
*=purchasing the DPMS Kitty Kat upper directly from DPMS is said not to be possible due to "PC" issues.

R Guns (fixed 1.8.2006)
DPMS 7.5" Kitty Kat upper.

MSTN (Mid State Tactical Network)
7.5" upper.  10.5" & 14.5" available (sells on site)

Rock River Arms (RRA)
Direct Link to Pistol section
RRA started to offer complet AR pistols and parts.  Above link is to the main page, while the second goes to the pistol section.  (added 2/20/2006)

Spikes Tactical AR pistol uppers, sidecharging 9mm uppers, also sells other uppers for .223 pistol, handgun pistol upper (6/10/06)

Custom barrels.  Below are some places that have stated they make AR pistol barrels, for you who want a "custom" project.  (Please, if I didn't list a company that does this line, it was not intentional... the list is constantly changing & I don't know ALL of them out there...only what I read and have experiance w/).

Teppo Justsu
(Do I really need to say something about Marty's company?  Oh wait, this is for Newbies....)  Has made vaiouse AR related products.  Working on a 7.62x25 cal AR upper (both pistol length and carbine).

Note: Pistol caliber uppers.  I know of one or posters that have stated they make a 9mm upper for pistols.  Other places that cut barrels down for 9mm AR pistols.  I'll have to dig up the posts and look for links.  I didn't forget those....

(More links/business will be added.... )

Should Gunsmoke Enterprises be included in this list of manufacturers/dealers?  I found them through this thread, placed an order and later learned they have a horrible reputation.  Unfortunately I ended up being burned by them too,  I was sold a fake Vortex Flash Hider.

Buyer beware!

ok, I have heard really bad things about gunsmoke Ent.   but I finally tried out my pistol buffer that he sent VERY fast and answered email questions VERY fast and it worked great.   Just thought I would throw my 2 cents in.
I'm happy and would buy from him again.

Can we please post some links to threads and web pages w/ info on barrel lengths and muzzle velocities for different rounds to aid the arfcommer who is wanting to make a pistol for a certian purpose?

Of particular concern to many is what barrel length is required to ensure fragmentatnio w/ different cartridges.

I am having a hard time finding info on the performance of rounds such as the TAP out of sub 14.5" barrels.

Here are a couple links for military cartridges out of 10" and greater barrels:

Notice they don't seem to give all the exact same data

The reason manufacturers are offering 7" barrels is that a carbine barrel can be converted, losing the existing gas port in the process. My 7 1/2 incher from a 20":

Thx!

I linked to the J&T add above but it had limited information on their product line.  My new pistol has a Star-15 5.56 lower with the J&T 10.5" crome lined A3 upper and ACE tube.   The reason for shareing this pdf file is simple, I had a hard time finding this info and though you may find it informative if you are contemplating any type of build including AR or M60,  boy when I saw that it brought back memories of being on a gunboat over in Viet Nam.  Hope this is helpful, I saved the whole catalog onto my hard drive.

Ko-tonics / Cardinal Armory

I wanted a short-barreled pistol upper, but I didn't want it in 5.56 (link to original thread).  Then Tim answers my prayers and tells the world about his soon-to-be-released 12.5" upper in 6.8 SPC.

There will also be an 8.5" barreled upper in 6.8 for those of you who like 'em even shorter.

Please remove www.ar15barrels.com (Randall Rausch) from the links in the first post.  His website is not up, and he has a bad reputation - never delivers custom barrels.  Some people still have small jobs done by him, but he's completely defaulted on many custom barrel jobs.

Being a NEWBIE to the ARpistol -  what exactly does that mean ?  About the shorter barrels being modified ?
Also, who does have the most reasonable kits available ?  Thanks

I see M1 sales says pistols only on the barrels...what if you want to turn it into a form 1 legal SBR later. Are the barrels marked as pistol? Are RRA uppers marked as pistol?
I don't want a upper or barrel marked as pistol if i can't do form 1 SBR at a later time.

i was looking at a J&T 7.5" pistol kit. what twist rate are their barrels? I'm looking for a 7.5" with a 1x7 twist. i can build one, but if i can buy a kit cheaper then i will go that route.
