Howdy  Gents,

FNG here with a question. I reside in the  People's Republic of CT so I have very limited choices. I have a chance to buy an Knights SR25 7.62 stripped upper and lower. My question is what if any complete upper will fit that lower? I am thinking of a 14.5" or 16" barreled carbine configuration. I could care less about using the SR25 upper unless that is my only option.

Or should I walk away on the KA SR25 and look elsewhere? I already own a SA Socom in 7.62.

Please share what you can.

I thank you in advance!

Diggy

You have a chance to buy a stripped upper but you want to buy another upper?

LMT doesn't list 7.62 uppers for sale on their website.....?

I have built up a few AR lowers and have all the tools to do that. I have not built an upper and want to make sure this one is right. How involved would building out the KA upper be? I apologize I am totally green and don't want to screw the pooch on that upper.

I have heard that the KA SR 25 platform does not play nice with others and finding any solid information has been tough.

I appreciate guys, please keep it coming![>:/

Mega will fit.

Be sure to get the KAC upper and not a DPMS upper, the DPMS being curved and the KAC being angled. LMT makes their uppers to the KAC model and so does Mega apparently.

Thanks guys!

Any other input on things to watch out for when dealing with the KA SR 25 platform for a build?

Thank you.

A large amount of cash if your staying true to KAC parts.  I'm kinda curios though, what upper came with the lower and why won't it fit your needs ? If nothing else you can always rebuild the upper as you see fit.

ACP ......great question. It is a KA SR 25 upper as well....matched to the lower.

I have zero experience with the 7.62 AR platform and even less building an upper on my own. I am in CT so I can only get pre ban 94 guns or lowers. I lucked into this one and put some money down on it.

I just don't want to screw up the assembly of the upper and would consider a complete upper I can "plug in" to the SR25 lower. I have built several AR 15 lowers and have all the tools and a comfortable working knowledge of them so I believe I can handle the SR 25 lower assembly. It's the barrel and  all that goes with it that I am nervous about.

I'd like to get a 14.5" barrel w/ pinned muzzle device or a 16" with key mod hand guard 13" or 15" with collapsable stock in a carbine configuration.

Any input you can offer would be very much appreciated!

There aren't a whole lot of complete .308 uppers available in the SR25 pattern.  If you've already got a vise, you're halfway there.

Get this, whatever barrel nut wrench you need, and a torque wrench.

We can walk you through putting an upper together.

Josh....I appreciate it. What complete upper would you recommend that is close to my specs?

Also.....what are a few of the things I would have to shop for to put my own upper together? Or is there a thread you can point me to?

I just want to do this right because buying another pre ban lower in this friggin commie state is pretty darn expensive!

Thank you Sir!

It's all in this thread.

You'll need a vise, torque wrench, vise jaws (linked above), and a barrel nut wrench for the handguard you choose. Assorted Allen wrenches and punches will come in handy as well.

The upper does require a few more specialized tools, but it's actually easier to assemble than the lower.

I agree OP, uppers are definitely easier, especially with proper tools...On my first build, I didnt have the right tools. ended up getting the job dont with a friend with like a 30" plumbers wrench, and my thighs as a vice. Was...An interesting experience...but in the end, I learned A LOT! Looks like you have most of what you need anyways.

Roger that. Vise, torque wrench, roll pin punches, hammers, vise grips, tape,  and a dangerous curiosity!  I appreciate the input fellas. I will begin the research and start accumulating parts. Looks like I need to pick up my SR 25 upper and lower. Let the games begin!

Thank you all

Mega, LMT, LaRue, and JP all fit. There's a few floating around the EE now. You can always buy a complete rifle and have it shipped to an FFL have them take off what you want and sell the lower/ left over parts on gun broker. I'm building one as well feel free to pm me questions
