Before I built this upper I was using a 12.5 midlength (adjustable gas) upper on the lower, it ran nearly flawlessly. After building this upper, it only works in semi auto, on super safe it is still semi auto. Last time I was at the range, I tried working through gas settings and that did not resolve it, I tried switching BCGs and that did not resolve it, I put a 13.9 upper on the lower and it functioned properly in all three positions. Any advice on next steps to diagnose? Thanks, gents. I’m not super familiar with the super safe triggers but my guess is that it’s not getting enough gas. 12.5 mos is super soft and usually on the under gassed side. |

After seeing the 1,000+ rounds fire in four minutes, I wouldn't even worry about it. That's shooting a fast as mechanically and ergonomically possible. If you had any pause in firing, that was longer than a mag change, I would expect the gas tube to cool quickly, being as low mass as it is. |

Surprisingly the melonited tube lasted way longer than the incolnel one. |

Melting 3 types of AR-15 gas tubes; Stainless, Nitride and Inconel I sent a link to that one to Cody with RRH asking if he had considered using nitride tubes instead after the Golden Webb video. |

They’re on there as backups in the very unlikely event that an ACOG goes down/missing I just have them set for plan B. I’m not a huge fan of MBUS sights beyond a very limited usage. |

I was able to get one of the Rare Breed triggers they dropped yesterday. I have a spare upper sitting around. Today FedEx delivered my Faxon 20” heavy profile fluted barrel and reptilia stock that I got on sale from Primary Arms. Looking forward to finishing this build over the next few months. Going to try to build out a lower with as many ambi-controls that I can manage. Any recommendations for an adjustable gas block, BCG, rail and optic? |

Can't remember if I sold them or threw them out. Obviously, there's no cant adjustment beyond the holes on the legs, so no fine control. The buttons on the leg adjustment were not easy to use, especially with gloves. Without, it pinched the thumbs of whomever adjusted it. Adjusted out, there's a lot of flex and wobble. The foot pads wore down quickly on concrete and gravel. I don't like Harris bipods, but I'd take one over the Vltor in a heartbeat. The Magpul bipod is money much better spent (until you get to an Atlas and beyond). |

I watched that video and mo OCD went nuts. I'm not any kind of operator nor have I been in the military but the putting you thumb on the left side of the receiver while shooting a "full auto" RPK/IAR type of weapon seems to dumb as shit. I fail to believe the military is teaching shooting like that for combat where you do not have quick selector access nor do you have the best grip on the gun. This thumb on the side of the gun just seems to be the latest tactical wannabe trend. Am I off base on this? |

You weren't taught to control the gun like in that video. |

I've seen that, and I think it started or at least I started noticing it a few years ago with those that were doing it because (they claimed) it helped with accuracy. But that was in the recce/mini recce trend not with support weapons. I've never done it, have no interest in it, but I agree I wouldn't want to be doing that with something that was supposed to be putting out a heavy volume of very rapid fire. I may be completely wrong. Like you, I'm not an operator so take that as you will. |
