The magazine is listed at 9" long, vs 9.5" for the PMAG 40. This doesn't sound like a lot, but installed in the rifle, it really does look/feel shorter. PMAG 40 is just really long; it's 0.25" longer then a 42rd AUG mag. Torkmag vs PMAG:  Loading the mag by hand was difficult due to the spring pressure, which is quite a bit higher then a regular mag, I presume due to the novel flat spring design. I'd use a Lula next time. However the mag seated pretty easy when fully loaded on a closed bolt. I've only shot 1x mag worth yet, but it was 100% on FRT. Overall, I think its an interesting mag for bipod FRT use, and I hope it continues to hold up well. It also makes me think a +10 basepad for Lancer/PMAG might be another way to get a 40rd mag shorter then the PMAG40. |

Last 5-6rd I had to press the Lula all the way down on the mag to help overcome the spring pressure. On the plus side, high spring pressure should allow the magazine to feed with rifles operating at very high RPM's. |
