Beautiful.

The re-release of the KAC MRE has me eyeing a build using one.
Link Posted: 6/13/2018 12:42:16 PM EDT
[#4]
My current setup:

  • BCM 14.5in Upper

  • cut down to a 13.8" barrel

  • BE Meyers 249Saker pinned

  • DD Omega 7.0 rail

  • Aero Precision NiB BCG

  • BCM foregrip with a spare bolt assembly inside it

  • Haley Strategic Thorntail mount

  • Arisaka 300 series scout light

  • Trijicon RX06 w/polarizer

  • KAC 600m rear sight

  • Spikes Tactical Honey Badger Lower

  • Peep & Bones engraved by the wonderful Weapon Genetics at CWTX2

  • Geissele SSA-3 from CWTX2 now swapped for a S3G from CWTX3

  • CMC Trigger Pins because otherwise they start to come out after 2 quick mags

  • Troy Trigger Guard

  • B5 Grip in Kryptek Typhon

  • H3 Buffer

  • VLTOR IMOD Clubfoot Stock with 6 CR123A batteries for the light

This is the second upper I've had on this lower, and it's been running great for about 2k rounds now, 4k on the lower. Not sure if BCM just massively over-gasses things like your uncle on his fifth beer at a BBQ when two people doubled up on bringing beans, but I could probably go to an H4 or 5 buffer without issue. Having an H0 in here caused a loose gas key on a previous BCG after barely 2k rounds. Much nicer shooting and ejecting now though, so it's good enough.

Now this is a thread I like.
I was thinking of picking up an  EMR V1 since they are pretty cheap and chopping it to fit my M&P. I'd like a RAS,but I don't got the patience to sit on EE to catch one within 5 minute sof being posted.

Did everyone crap out since 4th of July? I figured this would be a weekend of builds, because... 'Murica. I'd post pics of mine, except it isn't an fsb build.

Let's see what everyone else has created, regardless of completion status.

How do you like the DD rail? Do you have to leave the handguard cap on?

I could be wrong, but it looks like a Centurion Arms CMR MLOK rail with FSB cut. Very nice... and rare.

They have nice FSB cut CMR rails, usually only available as part of a complete upper. Very rare they are out there for individual sale.

Look closer. It’s not MLOK, it’s the regular CMR. As far as I know, only available on complete uppers that you’ve got to call/email to order.

You guys are correct. Its is a mid length Centurion CMR FSP rail. One of these days I hope to find a carbine length FSP rail to round out a shorter twin. This photo shows the details a little better.

Viking Tactics (Troy) FSB rail with a Colt SOCOM 14.5" bbl, YHM QD suppressor mount. Les Baer big pin flat top upper on a select-fire SP1 lower.

Kinda old school/modern mashup.

Hell yeah! Maybe I'm just getting old here but I'm tiring of the same MLOK handguard at every corner. These retro mall ninja builds - old ARMS and KAC rails and Aimpoint/Eotech/Surefire parts - are the new hottness for me! Collapsible FSB on this one:

I agree! I do like the way a thin, modern handguard feels, but I appreciate the history and looks of the old timers a bit more. Your build is beautiful and maybe one day I’ll apply for the stamp myself. As for my build, I’ve installed a VLTOR sight tower and I really dig the uncluttered field of view. I’ve been searching for the top rail to the #50 rail and I found a whole nother rail on eBay with it so I had to buy it haha

As will happen, I could not leave well enough alone... This brings us to the latest iteration of the build that kicked off this thread. I replaced the EXPS3-0 with an Aimpoint T2 on a Larue LT-660 mount. Also, I tried to reduce some forward heft by swapping out the CQBL-1 with a Laser Devices ITAL mounted on a Larue LT-271 mount. This is controlled by a Streamlight Dual Function tapeswitch that I modified to work with the laser. I'm digging the ergonomics of where this sits near my IR WML, as well as the fact that the clicky button gives me a "constant on" capability on a momentary only laser. Finally, my pride and joy... a new Tango Down QD stubby grip that I dyed to match my OD Green Magpul furniture. Way more comfortable than the RVG. It has the benefit of being able to remove on the fly, plus the additional battery storage (AAs in the K2+ grip core and CR123As in the Stubby).

We'll see how long this setup lasts, but for now, I'm in love again with my modern take on a timeless classic.

It's the Daniel Defense improved FSB design. Lighter weight, anti-reflective shi'ite on the back edge, blah blah blah. I'm digging it way more than the old clunkers I used to have. They came out with these back in 2012/2013. Here's my barrel:

It's more the angle I took the pic, plus the fact that I had to raise the post up a click above flush when I zeroed it. I'm deaf from my time in far away lands anyway, so big ears are just extra drag with no added benefit. On a serious note, though, I seem to shoot better with this one than with my Troy flip-up fronts. Not sure why. Maybe I drank the Kool Aid.

Nice Ponies.

Slightly confused by your question. Barrel is not dimpled, as the DD FSB does not use set screws. It uses taper pins like a standard FSB. The barrel includes the cuts for the taper pins.

Agree. I wasn't trying to make a statement with this one. I just think these are good, solid parts that are still very functional. 11.5" Colt Commando with an RASII, Aimpoint PRO in a Larue mount, Lone Star A1 grip and early Vltor stock.

It's my house gun and it's perfect for me.
