the only thing i would suggest doing to a GI trigger, besides replacing it, is a bit of polishing.
Take a felt wheel on a dremel with some Flitz polish, and buff the contact spots a little. Clean and grease.  Anything more is a waste of time, and you should just buy a Geissele.

QFT only skip the first (polishing) step and move straight to stage two.
If you dead set on a milspec trigger ALG  makes a couple worth a look

trigger job

and

lightening trigger/hammer springs

smooth trigger break at about 4.5-5lb.  no creep or post travel.  best low cost diy mod.

edit:  i did not remove any material from the hammer/trigger contact point listed in the first link, but polished it with fritz with a dremel.  did not cut the hammer either.   just polished, add a set screw, and bent the hammer/trigger springs.

I will second using ALG ACT Trigger.  Best inexpensive trigger I have found.

JP Enterprises spring kit can get you a 3.5 lb trigger with your stock FCG for under $10.00.

Big fan of the ALG. I recently switched one of my AR's to the ALG QMS. For about $45 I don't think it can be beat. Not really lighter but smooth as glass. I will be switching my other rifles over soon.
