How long would you expect a lower reciever assembly to last before parts start breaking, or it is in need of a rebuild with a new lower parts kit?
I know that barrels and bolts can last 10,000s of rounds before being "shot out", does anyone have a lower, with all original parts, that's been under a number of shot out barrels? |

you can never tell, thats why you need spare parts. the parts themselves should be fine for 10s of thousands of rounds, the springs will wear I would replace springs at 5k interval ETA your'e gonna get responses like "my (insert leghumper brand) springs last 1 zillion rounds" to "replace every Xk rounds" The bottom line you need a decent maint sched to keep a AR (any machine) reliable http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_118/360169_.html |
| It's not unusual to see 30 and 40 year old lowers still in use by the military. If the lower is still serviceable, the military will refinish it and rebuild it with new parts. Springs, barrels, bolts (and associated parts), gas tubes, and FCG parts are the parts that experience the most wear. |
