Hey guys,

My first post. I've picked up a Bushmaster AR-15, the M4A3 version, established a battlefield zero (see target At 50yds, the center target is my 9 shot group, the outer targets are courtesy of my .25 air rifle). I very encouraged by its performance so far. However, I would like to clean up the trigger. I'm a bit poor to afford an aftermarket trigger system, but what caught my eye was what I found on the JP Enterprises website. Until I'm independently wealthy, I was thinking about purchasing the DCM spec trigger and hammer springs and just polishing up the trigger sear contact faces. Would this be a viable interim option? Are the Springs in the JP kit a straight fit in my standard trigger group in my Bushmaster? Thanks for any help in advance.:)

The springs you mention will definately drop on to your factory trigger, BUT if you use the lighter hammer spring you risk light primer strikes with the stock hammer. What I do for my rough service AR triggers is I use there (yellow) spring sets and instead of purchasing a speed hammer, I lighten the stock hammer by cutting off the back to match the mass of the speed hammer so the lighter spring will launch the hammer fast enough to prevent light hammer strikes. One thing to consider is if you cut your hammer down refrain from excessive heat. I put it in a vise and use a dremmel to slowly meening with speed set low to keep heat down and put a drop or 2 of oil on it during the process which helps a lot but is messy and TAKE YOUR TIME. Speed here meens HEAT. Avoid this. Then finish it up with a good shaping file and clean it up and use a paint pen to cover the bare metal. Now after a correct polish job you will end up with a very smooth long lasting lighter trigger that will run 100% and last.
