Thanks, it's dated Oct 2010 and has a nice light finish color. I have the full upper together but I'm just waiting to add a KAC 99051 and then I will post pics.

Yeah. The last B5 Coyote I had didn't even resemble this new color variance. It was almost a perfect match to the LMT hue. Dunno why they changed their dye but it wasn't for the better.

Thanks.

I bought a PSA M4A1 lower and a Colt logo punch. Trying to make sure I have the alignment right before I try this.

@Chikenmastr   A logo punch?  Where did you find that?  I’m very interested!!!!  I did electro etching on mine, it’s OK-definitely not a roll mark but passes the 5ft test anyway-I’m very interested to see how yours turns out. here is a close up of an etched one:

I would be willing to ship it around after I get both of mine done.

Think it will work?

In to see the results. Maybe we can make it a charity thing. Send 20 bucks to a good charity to get the punch shipped to you, and on and on

I’m wondering how it’ll work?  Just put it on the lower and SMACK it?  Could a press be used to slowly apply pressure?

Definitely interested. Be sure to post pics of the results, and how much pressure you use. I have a 20 ton press.

You would have to make sure you supported the magwell with something. Otherwise the press would probably just split the magwell in half under all that pressure.

I think I’d try out out on an 80% first, it would suck to ruin a limited production lower.

Picked up a Razor HD Gen II E on the EE. The KAC mount I had in the parts bin is too low to see over my PEQ15A.

What mount and height do you recommend?

For a complete lower Not really, especially when you can get the new US property colt socom lowers for around that price.

Unless you are talking a complete rifle then i would jump on that!

I'd go with a scrap piece of AL before even doing an 80%. You'll get more chances to fine tune your technique.

A block of steel through the magwell across the bed of the press would be the way to go once you get froggy.

You are going to want a full sized bucking bar inside the magwell to prevent deformation. And due to the hardcoat anodized and the size of the stamp, ie square centimeters, I doubt a hammer will create much of an impression.  You are going to need a shop press to do that right and still have to experiment on some 7075 T-6 with it to see how many "pumps" to get the ideal depth.  And what is the logo stamp made from??  It has to be harder than the Type 2 hard coat or the stamp itself will deform at a faster rate than the aluminum lower itself.

Yep, I’m well aware that an unsupported lower would crumple like tinfoil. I’m just in to see processes and results.

Okay, now I don’t regret buying it. I really wanted another US Property marked Colt but couldn’t find one of the rollmarked lower carbines, so I snagged this one instead.

It is interesting that PSA left room for a logo on top of the M4A1 lower. What's the word on having the lower anodized again after engraving? I've never done that before. Is there a specific protocol that needs to be followed for the 2nd anodizing to be effective?

I realize rattle can solves the problem all together. Curious though...

It’s my understanding that the anodizing must be chemically stripped in order for the reanodizing to come out properly, you’re probably better off just filing the engraving like many people do with their SBRs.

I'm planning on getting mine laser engraved possibly this week if I can make it. Work out of town and have 1 day off.

The same company engraved a NFA lower for me. Right after the engraving they applied some type of clear fluid with a Q tip that turned the bare metal in the engraving recesses black. I have no clue what it was but it worked like magic.

I'll document it for you guys and take some good pics.., if I have time to visit.
