I got them (the complete stock set) right here on the EE. I guess I just got lucky as you are not the first to ask where I got them. I even found a pink CAR set on the EE  and put them on my wifes lightweight AR....Colt 6520 5.8lbs

It's probably not going to win any light-weight medals with that eotech on there... but anyway with the DD lightweight barrel and cavarms lower it's pretty handy. I also LOVE the NDS handguards... they look damn good and honestly I like the way they fit in the hand better than most others. I like to think of this as a bit of a "time-warp" carbine, retaining some of the best features of the old-school black rifle, but updated.

I like that a lot!

Although, personally I think it would look a lot better (and be lighter) with a mini Aimpoint on there.

ETA: Even better would be a mini ACOG on an A1 carry handle!

[#5]
For sure- someday when I have the extra cash I plan on swapping out the current upper receiver with an a1 and having an aimpoint mini co-witnessed forward of the carry handle. The eotech will probably be happier on more of a dedicated precision rifle.

I'm also  kind of surprised that I haven't seen any other cavarms/NDS handguard combos- the overall 'look' is I think undeniably cool...

Is that a 10.3 or 10.5 inch barrel? I assume that the rail is the 9.0?

Thanks,

Exactly!  It is a 10.3" barrel with 9.0" rail.

Already posted on the 14.5" pinned to 16" thread but it is a lightweight.

I need to weigh it but it does weigh less than my Spikes 5.45 dedicated AR.

Specs:
Lightweight 14.5" barrel with pinned dynacomp extreme
Moe handguards, VFG, grip
CTR stock
Spikes ST-T2 buffer
Spikes Nickel Boron BCG
Spikes Nickel Boron Battle Trigger
Magpul MBUS
Primary Arms Micro

man I'm going to have to recheck the weight on mine after seeing the rifles here.  Right now according to a fish scale it's weighing in at 9 pounds even with a full loaded PMAG30.  I'm thinking my fish scale might be off now :/

Specs
14.5in upper with pinned/welded phantom
Stripped down to bare essentials GG&G free float forearm probably shaved a half pound off by removing all the extra rails that wern't being used.
Primary Arms microdot
MOE stock and forward grip
Surefire G2 with Red filter flip cap and drop in 200 lumen head
Chopped down sight base

Only planned future additions will be MBUS.

Based on what I see in the pic, 9lbs seems about right.
That's a lot of junk hanging on that "lightweight"...and with the rails removed that handguard still weights 12oz or so, and that barrel contour sure isn't helping.
Might want to double check whether or not it meets the "lightweight" criteria.

Swap the hogue for an A2 or MOE, lose the light and vertical grip, finish chopping that FSB, and report back.

Don't know what this weighs, but its not heavy at all.  Only AR's I've seen that weighed less had no optics, plastic handguards, and an A2 stock.

I've always liked the look of those GG&G rails, though I've never fired with one.  Does it use a proprietary barrel nut?

Pretty ahead of its time considering the popularity of modular rails now, though IIRC, it was almost impossible to give them away back in the day when they first came out.  I know SOF guys have liked 'em for a while.

Uses a stock barrel nut without the Delta Ring on it. It is ok but there's screws all over it an EVERYONE needs locktite or they will vibrate out while firing.  I bought the rifle like this if I had built it my way to start with I would have a MOE guard on it becuase I don't need the full float tube I'm not going to be fitting any kind of aiming devices to this just a grip and a hand guard.

With all the rail panels in place it weighs a good bit that's why I stripped off all the rails I wasn't using.  I've got a ziploc baggie full of rails and covers right now that were doing nothing but adding weight.  I guess my scale could be accurate but it sure as hell feels lighter than 9 lbs lol.  Maybe becuase I got used to carrying it before when it had all that extra stuff on it.

Here's my lightweight 3-gun build.

6.8lbs unloaded, with the crappy/freebie red dot that's just on there for function testing (will have a burris MTAC eventually).
Some lightweight parts are the ACE stock, AP Custom tube, Young Mfg SLC, JP LMOS buffer, JP lightweight 18" rifle length barrel, JP aluminum gas block, Wheaton Arms titanium comp.

Here's my Rainier RUC (14.5")  with an EOTech 517 and a Magpul RVG.

Haven't fired it yet, but I couldn't be happier, especially for under $1,800 including the optic and vertical grip.

ETA...haven't weighed it with the optic, but it weighs 6.5 lbs without optic, RVG and BAD lever.

Hello Gents!  Nice rifles by all.  I am trying to decide what barrel to get for my next build.  I am seriously about to pull the trigger on a Noveske Skinny Mo barrel (1lb 4oz).  I am not going for a super lightweight build, but I am conscience of it and the supper skinny profile scares me a little on accuracy.  What kind of accuracy are you guys getting from your lightweight profile barrels??

Thanks!

I have a 14.5 middy from DD pictured above.

Only put around 500 rounds through it with no ammo failures.  Have shot full power M193 and PMC cheapie bronze.

CAR stocks, people, CAR stocks...easy way to save some weight.  I don't see slings attached to a lot of the stocks in this thread, so if you don't need a QD sling mount or aren't attached to the M4 sling attachment, go CAR.  Also, if you're doing a lightweight carbine, there's no reason not to do 14.5" barrel w/ perm attached hider, if you're going non-NFA.  There are a lot of guns in this thread that I would never consider "LW".  9 lbs.?  I've had a regular carbine, with no attempt at "LW", weigh less than 9 lbs.
