im thinking around 800-900 IF i can... honestly i just want a budget gun to start with and work from there, although i like the idea of getting a striped receiver its just i heard those cost more in the end Why do you want an A2? With that budget, I'd get a Spike's with a detachable carry handle... |
|
where do you live? i know the gun shows around where i live you can get a delton around 650 and thats A2 or A3. brand new with a couple of mags and a case. if you got 900 hundre you can dress it out a little before you leave.

haha well last time i went to the gunshow the ones i saw were 1000+ but i do prefer the flat top ones, but i would like the gun to be as low priced as possible
o ya btw in the county that i live in it is mandatory for every house hold to own a fire arm (edit my mistake i confuse the different designations for weather it has a carry handle or not) |

How about this.
DSA UPPER For $275, add their BCG and Charging handle for $125. That the complete upper (minus sights) for $400 DSG Furniture set you have a choice of colors for $99.99 shipped. Legal Transfers for the lower parts kit, should be about $70 That's $569, and all you need is sights and a lower receiver that you should be able to find locally for $100 or less. You can sub out a Spike's LE upper for an additional $75.00 if you want. |

You can can a top quality flat top AR for $759 right now. Take a look at the link below. http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=118&t=486660 |

and does the A2 have any distinct advantages to a flat top? besides iron sights?
IMO, no. Some prefer the look and profile of the A2 upper along with it's integrated irons, but for most practical uses, if you plan to mount an optic in the future, etc... the flat-tops give you more options. There are alot of nice fixed rear iron sights that you can run... I prefer these as they are lighter and slimmer than a detachable carry handle. (no huge thumb screws) I like the profile it gives the rifle as well... https://www.danieldefense.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=146 http://stores.homestead.com/Laruetactical/Detail.bok?no=29

I personally see no use for an A2 since I hate being restricted in what I can do but to each their own. |

as I am doing some building myself I can give some insight with prices I have seen here and what I managed to get:
srtipped lower off gunbroker for $100 including FFL fee. Gunbroker lower parts kit $60 Stock set off another boards EE $55 now regarding uppers, Saw an EE ad here for GI M16A4 top ends with sights and knight armamnet rail system for about 600 that gives you just over 800 bucks for a pretty well built gun. Further, Seen the BCM A3 gov profile uppers for under 400 new, but would end up being around 525 with bolt/carrier/charging handle. would still need handguards. If I wasn't waiting on a delton kit to show up,hopefully today. I would have gone with something off the ee or the bcm. |
| check out Superior Arms. Maybe I'm lucky, but mine has been NOTHING but reliable with no quirks and very accurate. I use old used GI mags and pmags with a few c-product mags mixed in. NO problems thus far and I shoot it in 3 gun matches. I think I paid 800 for it. They also have a take up screw you can adjust that allows you to take out the extra travel in the trigger. |

Yes - roll your own. Allow me to offer a little advice.
Step 1: Be Patient Step 2: Research and Read as much as you can on here. Step 3: Decide what you want to build and your budget (Keep in mind - you're building for you - not us). Step 4: Shop the sponsored vendors from this site (Examples: BCM, Denny's, PK, Del-ton and etc etc etc.). Step 5: Watch the EE for deals. Step 6: Don't save $5 bucks on a part only to spend an extra $10 for freight. Step 7: Buy good parts with a solid reputation. Step 8: Assembly and enjoy. Follow these basic steps and you'll have a very nice AR that you can be proud of and it won't cost you an arm and a leg. |

Just go to the gun show in two weeks. You will be able to find several NIB AR's for around $700. Here is a link to the show schedule. RK Gunshows

Just got mine, added an A-3 handle, and couldn't be more pleased. Read the comments posted and it may make your mind up for you. |

Get a CMMG Bargain Bin Rifle... I have 4 friends that have bought them and they all like theirs!

Spikes Tactical ST-15 M4 LE. It's the ONLY choice For what it's worth, it's just about as "mil-spec" as it gets without joining the Army So does anyone have specs on the Double-stars? I'm seeing people recommend them but can't seem to find any info on the components (M4 feedramps? Chrome-lined barrel/chamber? M16 BCG? etc.?). |
