yep. ACOG! which - by the way- are becoming much more readily available I read that Trijicon substantially expanded their manufacturing capacity over the past couple of years, and they are now pumping them out. In fact, they are now aggressively advertising civilian sales, which hopefully will result in the Holy Grail of AR optics......................... The Inexpensive ACOG |
First, post in the proper forum - Optics, Mounts, and Sights Second, you need to actually have a poll. ![]() Oh, and third, Aimpoint than ACOG. |

Out to 100 yards? Iron sights (I know you said they don't count). Second choice out to 100 yards would be a battle proven red dot (Aimpoint of EOTech), preferably co-witnessed. I've got a MatchDot on a .22 upper, but haven't needed or wanted a red dot on my .223 uppers badly enough to justify the price of an Aimpoint and mount or an EOTech. That said. IF I put an optic on one of my ARs, it will probably be an ACOG (TA11 or TA31) for performance beyond 100 yards. |
DR, I can't say that i've read the op. pieces you're speaking of, so I'm not sure what it is they're griping about. My 1st assumption would have to be the CQT's relative size; my second assumption would be based on the subjective gripes concerning it's "circle-dot" reticle (not what they prefer). Compared to an aimpoint, it is rather large (maybe 1.3 aimpoints in length). Otherwise, the optics are crystal clear, the illuminated reticle shows no sign of "flaring" even at high power, it uses AA batteries, is waterproof, built like a tank, and (my favorite)has the capability to go from a true 1X to 3X with a twist of the ocular housing. I own an aimpoint and can recommend it, but I'm growing weary of red dots. Between the two, I'll take the CQT...hands down, but, again, this is my opinion. ETA: There's nothing else like it. Op. ed. writers have nothing to compare it to? Who knows? I've learned to take their biased opinions with a grain of salt when it comes to subjective dislikes. |
