In case you guys haven't seen thess pictures, the AXTS forged receiver and billet, fully ambidextrous receivers are both compatible with the 45 degree selector.  They will have the Fire (pictogram) engraving situated in a manner that will work with both the 45 and 90 degree selector.

AXTS billet, fully ambidextrous receiver, photographer unknown (high res pictures to come)

These pictures are of prototypes.  Production models will have Fire engravings that are compatible with 45 and 90 degree selectors

There will be another billet receiver that's 45/90 degree compatible, some of the AR15.com members have already seen it, but we were asked to keep it down low until the manufacturer is ready to release the news to the public.  These lowers won't just be announced, they'll be AVAILABLE!

What kind of lower is that?  Has it been refinished?  The rollmarks look... off.  They look more like engravings.  Can you show us more of the lower?

ETA: Don't mean to stomp- just got my BAD-ASS yesterday and installed it, wish I had pictures to share!

Standard 90 degree throw, full size left side, short thin right side, and in true "Duffy style" Kryloned to match the rest of my receiver immediately!

Will definitely be grabbing a few more for my other rifles, and once I've got a digital camera again I'll definitely post some pictures up of it, between the BAD-ASS and IWC 2-1 Point Tri-Glides I got, I think my M4 is damn near in my "perfect" configuration!

I know it says Colt... but the rollmark on the magwell would imply that it's "U.S. Property" marked, I know there's a few transferable A1s out there with property marks, but exceedingly few A2s, which this lower appears to be.  Also, the sear pin... just doesn't look right.

It says it's a Colt, it has the auto sear hole but the Auto marking is masked by the selector.
Which is kind of strange, the selector on it is a semi auto 90 degree

Boy, you guys are sharp. I just wanted to show off the BADASS.

It was a custom finished lower, yes the auto sear pin is a bit awkward, but its purely cosmetic, it is not actually a pin. Hence the semi selector.

4/4/2011 10:50:12 PM EDT
[Last Edit: Duffy][Edited] [#21]
That makes sense, I kept thinking I had not seen the sear pin stick out like that before

They are nice pics, how do you keep the rifle so clean?

Oh, it gets used all right, the exception was that it's new build.

I often do a photo shoot after each build before I take them out.

I look forward to your other products.

Thanks!

When CASS-3P, SA (semi auto) comes out, it'll have a shot at that title.  Though the CASS-3P family doesn't have as many lever options as the current semi auto 45 and 90 degree selectors, so it may retain the best selector crown for a little longer

Does the short rigiht side piece interfere with a knuckle if you use a high hold? The only ambi selector I've had success with so far is the Colt.

With the 90 degree, all the levers will, though the short-thin lever has the least interference, but then it's tiny and not as easy to use.  So then it is the extent of interference we're trying to decrease and mitigate, but not eliminate, with a 90 degree legacy selector arrangement, this is a design constraint.

With a 45 degree selector, even a short lever will still come in contact with the trigger finger in a high hold.

This should be considered acceptable, HK burst pack on the roller locked systems and G36 all share the same traits.  On an HK burst pack, when the selector is set to auto, the tip of the lever comes in contact with the trigger finger.

The only solution is to reverse the orientation of the lever, the picture below shows a 45 degree selector with the levers reversed:

Safe still places the lever parallel to the bore, though it now looks like an M16 set on Burst or Auto.

Fire points the lever UP, there's nothing to interfere with the trigger finger.

This can work if your receiver doesn't have selector stops.

With a 90 degree selector, reversing the levers orientation doesn't work as well, as illustrated below:

It still completely eliminates any interference, but the throw is simply too long to be intuitive, just as the 90 degree legacy selector arrangement is too long and not intuitive.

Nice! I should try it. In the past I've just shot left handed with my thumb on the same side as the rest of my fingers.

You can use the standard lever on both sides of the receiver to give you maximum surface area and purchase, as no matter how big the lever is, it won't come anywhere near your fingers
