I am figuring supply chain but who knows. I have a PA-10 in my cart right now so probably going to take advantage of Black Friday sale to keep me busy until the JAKL is released.

The initial excitement I had for this has about worn off. |

I want a Jakl I also want the SIAR. I like oddball AR variants.
If they release, get them while you can. They all end up failing. No more RRA LAR PDS. No more ARAK 21. ZM LR300 (and the Para version. Jard made a bufferless AR that's gone. Olympic Arms had one. It seems like there isn't any staying power with these bufferless AR variants. I second the FM15 recommendation. My FM15 pistol came in a few days ago. So far so good. I put 200 rounds down range. Zero issues gun ran 100% so far. 100 of the 200 rounds were with a lower that had a BFSIII. It ran perfect I couldn't get it to hammer follow. Its the only upper that I can't out run the BFSIII with so far. |

View Quote There really isn't. While they might be "ARs" they're really more different guns like a SCAR, XRCR, 805... The only reason the MCX will last is bc it's gaining widespread adoption internationally and domestically. While it won't ever replace the AR, it will be around as a long term viable alternative. Everything else is an also-ran built by small companies for enthusiasts, and that market and distribution just isn't enough to sustain a product like that long term. |

I put the MCX with rifles like the SCAR, Bren, XCR, ARX , ACR, M10X ect. It can use a AR lower but really shines when its a complete Sig rifle.
Many of the above rifles have also failed in the US market. But there seems to be a better success rate with non AR based designs. But I think that's because they are military based rifles with the XCR being the exception. The only AR based design that may have staying power is the BRN 180 and when paired with the BRN lower I really don't think it is an AR anymore. I also have a feeling that we may see a variant of the BRN 180 with a left side charging handle with PWS branding. All of these AR15 based designs would have been better if not constrained be the dimensions of the ar lower. They all seem to need an extra inch or two of receiver in the rear. If one of the better designed products were to go open source or a very tiny licensing fee one of these designs may gain some staying power. |

@jerz_subbie
Regular AR lower, SBR'd with tax stamp. MCX Virtus upper with 6.75" barrel. Midwest Industries 6" rail. AAC 51T flash hider. Sig adapter with a pic rail for stock attachment. It took some research, as there is an MCX receiver, a Rattler receiver, and a Virtus receiver, and although they are all the same in some ways they are different in others, and take different handguards. The 6.75" barrel is only available with a rifle length rail that is built wide to sleeve a suppressor. It was a hassle to source parts. It was expensive. But it is pretty darned cool IMHO. I was really trying to hold out for the Jackl, and will probably still get one, or at least an upper. |

I’ve gone full circle of looking at the MCX and similar bufferless AR’ish platforms but I once again come back to a BRN-180S as a less than ideal compromise and the yet to be released JAKL. The money isn’t burning a hole in my pocket, so I’ll keep waiting a while. Curious to see what the latest update is from Josiah. |

They have been out torture testing firearms, so it has been a little tougher for me to get ahold of them due to that and the Thanksgiving Holiday. I will get back with you all in this thread shortly as I do not want to give out bad/inaccurate information. Thank you, Josiah |

View Quote The production version will be at the SHOT show, we are working on building the first 500 now. This one has been tough, doing development during the last 18 months has been almost impossible. Finding materials for production was bad enough, some lead times for restocks for metals have gone to 20 months with 200 percent price increases. Some materials that were plentiful and regularly used came back as no quotes and unavailable for any lead time as suppliers focused on only a few mixes/configurations of metals. Doing development in a time like this is tough as you can’t even be sure you can get the raw materials after you finalize the design. You can also not estimate a cost to produce in an environment like that either. However, even with these difficulties and others during the last two years we are very proud of the final design. We know that you will be as well. It will be revealed at the shot show and I can’t wait for your feedback. |
