Quoted: The mags sold with the rifles were also used in the testing so yours has a bit more of a story to tell than mine that look new. View Quote Be aware AU is not the only CURRENT vendor of these mags. India 5 round restriction my ass! They are nothing more than Colt cleaning house and finding old product to sell from 1990. |

Quoted: No, I am 100% certain IMO these mags have nothing to do with the testing. They are just old stuff Colt is disposing of. Be aware AU is not the only CURRENT vendor of these mags. Quoted: Pretty strong statements when you haven't produced one shred of evidence to back up your claim. View Quote Sure as heck no one is going to test an auto rifle with a 5 round mag. AU suggested there was a 5 round restriction for India. No, that 5 round design change occured around 1990 due to problems with buyers of the old 7.62 sporters and the mags failing to work with more than 5 rounds. KYimports is also selling these mags just released from Colt. The mags are circ 1990. I got a few mags from AU. Anodizing worn like they were just old surplus stuff they had from the 90s. On the mags I received there was considerable DUST, many years of dust on the followers and inside the mag when I removed the limiters. That is a bunch of proof. AU just acquired old stuff from Colt, just like KYimports did. That being said, MY UPPER is beautiful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Character would be a nice way of putting it. It’s pretty dented up and missing most of the finish off of it. My upper looks great though.

SleepyM4...am I reading that right in that you got a matching box and upper #14? Nice if so!

I am still trying to find out when these were produced and when the trials occured.
The XS sight post model was first released 2008 so its given that its later than 2008. The plastic bags are marked 2013 so its as early as 2013. |

Two went up last night and thanks to family one will be coming to my home. Will update with box and upper number when it arrives.

View Quote Does that mean 2 magically appeared for sale on the website after being officially sold out? If that is the case, something ain't right at AU. Inventory accounting hosed, or maybe credit cards declined on buyers and items returned to stock, or maybe they had more than 16 as they reported. Its believed that 24 exists or existed, maybe AU had more than 16. |

There could be a multitude of reasons that these became available. It’s really none of my business though. If AU chooses to disclose that information that’s their choice. Unlike some I don’t look a gift horse in the mouth when given an opportunity like this. Curiosity killed the cat and it’s better to leave sleeping dogs where they lie. Just be grateful that companies like AU were able to put these within the reach of the average joe. Thank you Arms Unlimited! |

We sometimes cancel orders due to suspected fraud. This adds items back to inventory. They are now all gone.

Upper #21, box #17.
#21 looks to be in the same condition as the others that have been pictured in this thread. It has a few exterior scuffs and just a little bit of wear on the BCG. I’ll post some pictures after I get it cleaned up. The barrel has a SOCOM profile and is dated 04/14. |

Its hard to find. I didn't see it till just now. My date is also 04/14 so the Trials must have happened after that date. I also added this SOCOM bbl info to the list on page 2. |

Does anyone have a reliable source for the C products magazines? View Quote I got a bunch from Brownells in the past. Use a good coupon code and their price on these mags are the lowest usually. Backorder on these at Brownells is not too long. They seem to be always on backorder. They fill the orders on these as they receive them. SGAMMO also is a good place. |

Anyone else's mag look like this? https://imgur.com/zA9ZB71 https://imgur.com/Tow574Z https://imgur.com/tPPXwyf https://imgur.com/tdR1iiD View Quote Here is exactly what you need to do: 1. Contact AU, show them the pic and advise them the mag is not only not NOS but it is a POS. 2. Request that they mail you one of their NEW 5.56 Colt 20 round mags as a replacement. 3. Remove the follower and floor plate from the 7.62X39 and install them in the new body of the 5.56 Colt 20. When done you will have a brand new 7.62X39. Both the 5.56 and the 7.62X39 use the exact same mag body. When you remove the revit in the 7.62X39 floor plate, use a drill only large enough to free the revit. Too large a drill bit will make a sloppy job. It does not take much to remove the revit. Throw the 5 round limiter in the trash. Just remember to only load 5-7 rounds when used. |

Wow that mag is beat!
How does the mag even accompany a $1000 upper Im guessing the mags weren't used for the testing or the uppers wouldnt look so good. Maybe your mag was used for all the guns. Wonder how testing with full auto rifles and 5 round mags goes? What country was Colt supply with x39 rifles in the late 90s early 2000s? |

Unless you get an 80% lower done, your odds of finding an individual Colt 7.62x39 marked lower receiver is on par with winning the lottery.
I wish you luck in your hunt. |

Does anyone have a reliable source for the C products magazines? View Quote The new company that bought some of the assets of the old C Products have better quality now which is the C Products Defense located in FL (link below). The only other mag brand I had seen, but not tried yet, is D&H Industries 30 rd mags and Brownells (link below), I'm just assuming they're high quality because I have plenty of D&H 5.56 mags that have no problems. Also D&H are going to release their new 10 rd 7.62X39 mags this coming Fall. https://cpdmags.com/ https://www.brownells.com/magazines/rifle-magazines/magazines/ar-15-7-62x39-magazines-30rd-prod95439.aspx |

Anyone know what the screw on the left side of the receiver located below/at T9 is for?
A normal receiver doesn't have one but this mono has it. |

thanks for the information, I'm just going to buy an 80% and get it engraved and anodized.

I was thinking that I had seen some of these uppers for sale before. Took some searching, here is what I found.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ujorwey5s460f8s/colt6940upper762c39x.jpg?dl=0 In June 2017, I got an email sales ad from a vendor (not AU) offering these up for sale. They claimed: Extremely Rare, Only 25 ever made, they had 14. No mention of india or used. |

One possibility would be that vendor ordered the uppers from Colt and for some reason they never took delivery. Along comes AU a year later and they did take delivery. |

What? No uppers received today?
I would have thought 2 maybe were delivered Monday thru tonight. |

Armsunlimited never stated they got these uppers direct from Colt.
AU did you get them from Colt or from a source other than Colt as suggested by the above posted old advertisement by 10mmphil? |

The name of the vendor is/was special forces outdoors . com and they are closed down. They still have a FB page, so that might have some info. I will email the SFO email ad to selected members that IM me. Just trying to help. |
