This shows how much of a neophite that I am, but I didn't know the barrels were dated. Where exactly is that found?

trying to think when this offer was first made. IIRC, it was about December 2004. Not sure what Colt models have the 11.5 bbl, but it is safe to say, this gun was unique enough to warrant its own model number. I read that there were a total of 300, which must be a minimum run for Colts to consider a new model number, and that 200 of those went to LE agencies. The ultimate numbers may have been different than planned. It would be interesting to know. For that matter, it would be nice to have some sort of official documentation to identify it as a :"special" issue weapon. Interesting how this works. I guess specialized armament got a couple (or more) models introduced, including the 6920HB, the 6320, and maybe the 6922 (or 6923) This one (El_Abogado's pix) is the LE 6933 |

And of course SAW has the 6921SP, with a 10" barrel.
Just saw that Skich is selling 6933 uppers. The thread is: THE REAL CQB DEAL! - COLT 11.5" Commando Uppers |

My Commando arrived yesterday. I should say my transfer arrived yesterday. From the time I sent it off to the BATFE it was back in under 7 weeks. The rifle is cool. In as delivered configuration it is very light. It has a full auto bolt carrier, a Diemeco upper reciever and the buttstock looks a little different. I may end up selling the upper to fund other projects, but it is a sweet deal as it is. Definitely worth the wait.

I might be interested in the upper, if you do sell. . . |

My barrel is dated 11/04 as well. No birthdate on the bag.
Can anyone recommend a good rail for this baby? |

From talking to Howard, he and David were supposed to get 150 of them. They got a first batch of 100, of which mine came from, and all of those were supposedly sold. He was supposed to get a second batch of 50, and according to his website, he still has them forsale, but I don't know if he ever actually got them or not. Pete in NH bought 5-10 of them for resale, he's also, for some dumb reason, willing to remove them from the NFRTR if you want just a non-SBR Colt M4 LE lower. I was searching around a while back and saw one dealer trying to get $2400 for them. It will be interesting to see what the future value of these will be. |

KAC RAS; LaRue. 11/04. Sounds like the run was in November of last year, since that's the date for all of them. |

Just wanted to clarify: the 6933 has the "F"-marked FSB and the lightweight barrel. SAW lists the barrel as:

wonder if the bayo lug is ground off on those too? Not that a bayo would be of any value on one..... |

You're probably several months too late. You can check http://www.jbarms.com to see if he has any left. Legal-Transfers in the EE had some, for a significant markup. |

I hear that there are still a few with Howard. . . .
Good luck. It's a good deal. |

OK done.
Has ten left. Asked to save one. But how is the paper work NFA, form 4473(?), shipping etc. handled long distance? |
Just curious, who has ten left. I gave Howard a deposit for one months ago and I'm still waiting.
Howard has a shipment incoming, with 10 not sold.
No, make that 9. |

not too bad, but not fast. I got a local class III FFL to do all the work for me, and he has been 100%. I bought the LE6933 last February or earlier, and expect to bring it home this month.... |

Saw 2 of the 6933's today at the Harrisburg gunshow (Spiwak/JB arms). Very cool and very tempting. I almost bought one of these last year instead of my 6920. Kind of wish I had now, because I might have received the rifle if I bought it last January. The problem with owning one of these would be whether or not to keep it stock.

That's why you should get 2! One to keep as a safe queen and the other to ride hard. |

That is so surprising. This Colt is every bit as rare, and "collectible" as the LE 6920HB, yet sells for almost $1,000 less. I'd rather have this shorty - and do. But I still scratch my head at the discrepancy in pricing. Probably due to the fact buyers are turned off by the hassles and inconveniences associated with the SBR route. as for the safe queen or shooter thing, I am getting a new upper and maintaining the original so its a little of each option although the new upper cost is close to a new 6933 |
Redfisher, How does that 6933 shoot? I'd be real tempted to throw a nice LW/ GP upper on it just to save the factory original. How long did your C3 paperwork take from start to finish? |
Take a look at this guys! It looks as if the 6933 is going to be re-released!
Who wants in on a group buy? I'm in for two more! Colt 6933 Cheap! |

What? Clyde Armory? Why, they have lots of Colt carbines for sale and at reasonable prices. This must be Colt's fault, somehow. . . . |

My paperwork was pretty easy actually. I purchased the gun in March I think, and it took a few months for the original seller (JBArms) to get them from Colt. I think it was August or maybe a bit earlier. But from JBA to my FFL took about 30 days, and another 60 to my hands. The actual paperwork to ATF was a little less than 60 from mailbox to my hand. As for the gun itself, I have yet to use it. I am very tempted every day, but am considering whether to keep it as is for collector/ safe queen/investment purposes, since it was so inexpensive, or to blast away. I am considering using the lower with either a 10.5 LMT, a custom barreled upper, or like you suggested a piston LW or POF, and keep the Colt 11.5 upper 100%. Then again, I am a single arms length from ammo boxes full of loaded mags, and am just as likely to burn the range up with it. It is surprising just how different the 11.5 is from a 16" carbine I honestly can say, it is an awesome gun and haven't dismissed getting another. |
Just got word that mine is being shipped!
Why does Clyde Armory have to do this to me? Temptation is bad enough w/JB arms. The only downside, if there is one is that I thought this was an ultra exclusive/one time only deal that Colt was releasing. Oddly, this is not the first time I've heard this. A big-time Colt distributor near me said he could get some too. |
Again, this must be Colt's fault, some how, I'm sure. . . . If they didn't keep making these special runs, there would be fewer Colts available for civilian sales. |

I kind of agree, diver. A small part of my decision was the exclusivity/collector value of the 6933. But when it did not include any documentation on the limited run aspect (like the LE6920HB did) I figured it was less than I had envisioned. I suppose SAW put that letter of authenticity together and not Colt. So if JBA wanted to - and it were so - they could do the same. Does not take away the perma-grin I get every time I pick it up. |
Guess now you can shoot the damn thing and give us a range report. On second throught, don't do that. I want one bad enough without hearing how much fun they are to shoot. The Colt LE distributer I talked to said a bunch were made special order for a Virginia PD who couldn't fit the regular 16 carbines in their vehicle racks. Don't know if this is true or not, but it could help to explain why Clyde's is getting some. Guess I'll have to go shoot my 6920 today to take the edge off. |
Just heard from Howard at JB that mine is in also
We'll see how long now from Howard to my FFL and then to Me |
I had a chance to check one of these out at Clyde Armory the other day when I picked up my 6721. Josh at CA told me he has a few hundred of these coming in near September, and he already has a list started. Nice price on them too at $1249 for folks that preorder.

My personal Colt stock value just went down a point.............or two |

+1. Kind of makes JB Arms/Spiwak guns look bad for advertising "Exclusive" "Limited Supply" a year ago when they first started taking orders on these. I was lead to believe there was only going to be 150 of them available. Now it looks like there will be hundreds more.
True...But the non-exclusiveness diminishes it now, somewhat. |
JB Arms / Spiwak may look bad due to Colt's current actions, but I firmly believe that neither David or Howard would have marketed their batch of 6933s underhandedly. No way. A successful product is just that. You can't help but LOVE the 6933. Obviously, the demand has picked up and Colt is answering the call. I for one want Colt to make more! This is a good thing! |

Don't disagree, but they were careless with the English language on describing this semi-auto "Commando" that really wasn't a Commando in any way, save the upper. I love my 6933, I'm grateful to JB Arms and Spiwak, but I'm disappointed in their casual use of of words, both on "Commando" and on the exclusiveness of the carbine. I give them one thumb, most of the way up, on their efforts. |
