I ate there this morning.  Sorry, but I'm not impressed.  Just don't like it too much.

i had chicken and dumplings there a few months ago. damn that was so good stuff with really large pieces of chicken in it
10/1/2008 5:32:36 PM EDT
[#4]
I used to get the chicken and dumplins.  That stopped when I got married.  My wife makes chicken and dumplins so good it makes cracker barrel seem like a can of Campbell's.
10/1/2008 5:34:19 PM EDT
[#5]
MMMmmmm I could go for some chicken and dumplings.
10/1/2008 5:34:35 PM EDT
[#6]
I like their fried cod on fridays. mmm...
10/1/2008 5:35:00 PM EDT
[#7]
I like Cracker Barrel because they serve the kind of food that I got when I was a kid. Mom was a country girl, my wife is not. Cracker Barrel isn't Mom's, but it's O.K..

I thought this was another slavery/white guilt thread.

Nevermind.

The one near me in Hampton Virginia had some problems a few years back. apparently a lady put a mouse or something in her food and claimed they put it there...she eventually confessed. but gross non the less.

Man I had some good times there.  I used to stay in an apartment in Hampton with 3 other Navy guys when we weren't out to sea.  We partied like crazy.  Used to go to Langley for racquetball and Ft. Useless for basketball/weights.  I miss those days.
10/1/2008 5:51:52 PM EDT
[#12]
I eat breakfast there every now and then on Saturdays.  They got good blueberry pancakes.
10/1/2008 5:52:12 PM EDT
[#13]
They make good oatmeal.

10/1/2008 5:53:18 PM EDT
[#14]
Stewart's root beer....mm...
10/1/2008 5:55:22 PM EDT
[#15]
Just got back in from CB myself.

Chicken Fried Steak with GRAVY
Mashed Potatos and GRAVY
Turnip Greens
Pinto Beans
That coke cake thing with ice cream (forced to split this with my wife)

The wife and I go there about once a month. The food is okay but we like to play the little board game with the multi-color golf tees.

I'm not a huge seafood eater but that does sound great! Just make it a sourdough biscuit and I'd be happy.

I did like their peach pancakes though.  YUM!

[#18]
What did you call me?
10/1/2008 5:59:05 PM EDT

Their fried catfish sandwich is so good it'll make you cry.  I'm not a fan of restaurants generally but boy howdy is that sandwich tasty!

My wife calls the Cracker Barrel, The Salt Lick
10/1/2008 6:02:31 PM EDT
[#21]
Not for me.  I've eaten there several times in several different states and I can honestly say that most folks around here cook better than that.  I can't see paying to eat the same menu but worse food than I can get at home or at relatives houses.

Damn! That sounds good.
We have a CB about a mile from here and we have never been there.
My wife says it's because I'm too cheap to eat out.
I say it's 'cause I'm spoiled because of her good cookin'.

I have to hold myself back on commenting on that choice of pre-processed menu.  No offense meant whatsoever.
10/1/2008 6:07:10 PM EDT
[#24]
It's good, no doubt.  But breakfast isn't that special to stand around and wiat 30-45 minutes for it

Cracker Barrel is a nice restaurant.  I'm from Maryland.  The only Cracker Barrel I've ever been to was down in Florida, near Daytona Beach.  Whole different kind of place from what I'm used to in Maryland, and I liked it.

Yep.  It caused quite the stir.

I think it happened very soon after the Wendy's finger incident.  Dumb bitch just looking for a payday.

[#27]
Two excellent foods there:
Sunday special buttermilk batter fried chicken is some of the best around.
And the biscuits are almost as good as my grandmother's were when I was little.

Even I'll admit I overdid it..this WAS the only meal I had today though.....

I've just added a chewable Rolaids (Vanilla Flavor) to the evenings menu.

Amen.  I love their Cajun Catfish too.

As hard as it is sometimes, I have to have a Blackberry Cobbler Sundae before I leave.
10/1/2008 6:27:44 PM EDT
[#31]
Just for the hell of it I ordered their aged rib eye. Damn they must have cooked it next to the bacon. It was baconony goodness.
10/1/2008 6:33:03 PM EDT
[#32]
Man I am salivating for the Catfish dinner with the three sides.  Fried okra, and two servings of hashbrown casserole.

Yum

P.S.  The last time I went, the golf tee game said I was an "eg-no-ra-mooose, so take my post with a grain of salt.

Also, the last time the USPSA Natinals were in VA, I ate this same meal for breakfast and dinner, and never got tired of it.  The Portapotties were probably tired of it, but they were getting paid so I felt OK with myself.

I love that place.  The closest one to me is 50 miles away.  Probably a good thing.

Im not crazy about the breakfast menu.  Everything I've tried doesn't have much flavor.  We end up going there about twice a month because my wife likes to meet her sister's family there on Sundays.

Hopefully, I'll find something that has some taste.
10/1/2008 7:03:28 PM EDT

biscuits with apple butter

Ehhhh....so-so.

Underwhelmed the last time I was there.

Cracker Barrel.  All the good food to better fill your Depends brand adult diaper.

Cracker Barrel Rocks!!
That is all.....

I've liked it the couple of times I've been there.  The GF refuses to even step foot inside of one.  So by default, I don't eat there....

The food there reminds me of Stouffer's frozen, family sized dinners.  It is very edible but not home made style.  I can picture some high school kid in the back putting disposable, aluminum pans of premade frozen food into an oven.

Well, they do have all those rocking chairs out front she can sit in while you eat...

I used to love the place, until I got a taste of my GF's country cooking.

I go there for the pie...

Cracker Barrel sucks.

I don't think i'll ever go to a cracker barrel, ever since that one guy that had a water powered engine was killed at one about 20mi from my house.

I think they have the best macaroni & cheese on the planet.

Everything else is pretty good, nothing special
