Cracker Barrel is a nice restaurant.

Damn dude, you don't get out much, do you?

My first time at CB was also my last time. And it sure as hell is not a "nice" restaurant.

The one here sucks and I've noticed that none of them have cool stuff in the stores like they used to.

We hit one last month coming back from a Collings Foundation stop.

Food is always good, but it's what we eat everyday anyway.

And to top it off, after one of my sons told our waitress how it was almost his birthday, she told us how every year on her birthday, her and her dad would set some Tannerite targets out behind the barn! And she was cute!

A day FULL of WIN!

The last one we went to was in Kenosha WI.  There's lots of cool stuff, like shirts and old-time candy and gift-type stuff.

The ones I've been to in the last few years were decked out like some kind of country boutique. Lots of decorative stuff and not much else. They do still have candy, but I don't really eat candy very often so that isn't much of a draw for me.

What ? They STILL had cool stuff!
My kids were ELATED that they had shotguns, traps, fur stretchers, etc on the walls.

We all left FULL ,and was fairly light on the wallet, and THIS is coming from a man whose usually splurge is THREE items off McD's dollar menu!

I like their food, but HATE having to walk through the damn gift shop to eat. Son of a bitch...it adds 30 minutes to my outing so the wife can browse and touch everything!

There is one about 5 miles from me, in West Memphis, AR.  I haven't eaten there in over a year because it sucked the last three or four times I went.  The first three years it was open, it was pretty good - very good as a matter of fact.  There were a bunch of teens working there and a few older ladies, and the service was good and the food was fresh.  Something happened, everybody left, and they tried trainees for a while (it was OK, but not great), the couldn't keep trainees and they started sending employees from other locations.  Three or four experiences with bland, cold food, and having to ask for biscuits several times before getting them - I had enough and they are crossed off my list of eating places (and we don't have many decent ones anyways).

I remember the slingshots and 8' leather bullwhips. Sadly nanny-legislation is ruining this country and forcing places to try and insulate from lawsuits.

Its good stuff if you feel like putting on 20 lbs of lard. We would eat there like once every 6 months in Utah for breakfast. I always felt gross afterwards but was tasty going down.

I've been underwhelmed the last few times that I've eaten there.  They sure seem popular enough, so perhaps I've just been unlucky.  Getting tired of paying for lukewarm food, though.

We go to the one South of Fort Collins when we visit my wife's parents in Cheyenne. And the one in Shreveport when we visit my folks in Louisiana. It's my annual grits fix. The only part about Cracker Barrel that I can't stand in the junk store attached to the restaurant. Cripes.
