Some people here are poking fun at the shooting in Seattle.  I work at a funeral home in Seattle and we got one of the victims bodies.  His father was so upset that he couldn't even talk, he was crying that hard!  The youngest person killed was a 14 year old girl!  I also have a friend who lives in that part of Seattle.  I haven’t heard from her in days, and the scary thing is one of the girls who was killed has the same first name, so I am very scared right now! So please STOP MAKING FUN OF THIS TERIBLE INCODENT!!  So fucking what if they were dressed like zombies!  People were killed and there is nothing funny about that!
BTW, even if you find this funny for some sick reason, the crazy who did this shooting used a Bushmaster and that gives us AR owners a bad name!  So again, there is nothing funny about this!!

I have to agree with you on this one.  I really hate these failing-at-life losers that don't have the common courtesy to go eat a bullet in the privacy of their own bathroom and decide to take out a bunch of innocents in one last act of assholery.  However, the dickhead quotient on this site can be through the roof at times.  I don't think you've been here long enough to realize the magnitude of this phenomenon.  It is what it is.

How long have you worked at a funeral home?
Dark humor is a method of coping with events. In this case the fact that muliple people were killed, and some were young brings out the dark humor.
As a old 'Medic who was stationed at a funeral home for a while, our duties included assisting the funeral directors with the bodies.
Since I worked the same area of the town I grew up in I encountered several people I went to school over the years both as a 'Medic and assisting the funeral directors.
If it turns out that you knew one of the victims, tell your co-workers and they will tone back and help you deal with it.
Around here most people most likely have not been around the bodies and it is remote for them.
If you find the dark humor offensive, don't click on the Threads.
Buy your post I guess that you have not worked in this field long and have not had to deal with multiple deaths before, there is a learning curve as to coping.

No one is making fun of the individuals that were shot and killed.
You have to understand , here we post about what is the best round for a zombie and other such silly comments from time too time. And then for a person in reality to walk in a party and start
shooting people that were dressed as zombies has some humor too it.
It not a personal attack on anyone killed.

I have worked at the cemetery for about 4 years now, and it has been the family business since I was born. You are right, dark humor is a method of coping with events.  It's just that it tugs at my heart seeing the body and knowing that people are making fun of this terrible event.

I'm an AR owner and I love Bushmaster.  I don't feel that my name is worse off now than it was before the event.  It is sad when people get murdered, that's not the point.

I am not more responsible for what happened at that party than somebody that doesn't own an AR-15.

Point is, S**t happens.  Try to learn from it and move on.

I hope I don't create too many enemies with this post, after all I am still very new here.  I just couldn't live with myself for not saying something about this.  As you can tell it really, really upset me to see the boy and his father at the funeral home today. Plus my friends and I have been trying to get a hold of my friend who lives in that area. She is probably fine, but it still scares me. These two things make this incident very real for me.

First.. Relax... take a breath. This incident is WAY overwhelming. I understand. You are gonna find a HUGE array of people with such varying degrees of humor, attitudes and behaviors. I learned you CANNOT make people all the people here agree with your outlook.

I cannot, in a million years, understand how people like you can take on the job you have and be sane after years of seeing death... I guess its like what cops and coroners see day in and day out. Takes a person with a will of iron to do that and I tip my hat to you.

Dont take it to heart how some people talk around here. If there is someone specific that is cracking jokes and you feel it was out of line, send them an IM... you will be surprised how well people will react and be there. This is a great place ... give it time.

One of things I love about Arfcom is the black humor. Everyone knows how horrible certain events are, but you can't let yourself slide into a depression about it. The humor is a sort of a coping mechanism for all the bad crap that happens again and again and again. I don't think it's because people don't care. (well, it's the Internet and you're always going to get assholes too, but I think for the most part the people here are great)

Just MHO.

The only tragic thing about this is that the parents of the 14 year old were not shot also. Too bad he didn't swing by all the parents houses with kids under 18 at this rave and off them prior to his Zombie hunting.

NB,
Wahhhhhhhhhh!  Did you get your feelings are hurt? Sounds like you need a different career!

Fact is those and most after hours raves are drug infested shitholes. Any parent that allows there underage child, to attend needs to be examined. Yes people died, but you know what, they shouldnt have been out doing drugs and staying out all night. I am so sick of people and their "you hurt my feelings crap" its not even funny!

Let this be a message to parants.....You let your 14 yo stay out all night doing drugs, bad things happen.

Shotguns can be used on people, but only if they have a pistol grip.

Statement given by police experst Fox News:

The gunman was wearing bandoliers of shells for the shotgun and carrying additional clips for the handgun. In his truck, police found an assault rife and multiple "banana clips" carrying 30 bullets each.

The gunman also had a handgun, police said. Kerlikowske said the gunman mainly used the 20-gauge pistol-grip shotgun, " a weapon not deisnged[SIC] for hunting purposes but for hunting people."

We all know a .410 was used to kill the kid who stepped on that looney tune's grass last week.

Maybe EBRs will get some time off this month while the antis freshen up their "ban ugly shotguns" literature.

You must not have worked a the funeral home for very long, have you? I worked for one for 3 yrs and a dark sense of humor is mandatory for making it past a month! My first day there, I learned that cremains (I actually laughed when I first heard the term) was referred to as "Shake and Bake." If you dont have that kind of sense of humor, how do you expect to deal with people removing their heads with shotguns, people drowning their babies, parents beating their kids heads in with baseball bats, grandmother being found in her house 3 weeks after dying from a heart attack, or aunt Suzie, the Floozie being fished out of a lake, after her and uncle Crackhead got into an argument, with a plastic bag tied around her head? This is only a short list of the things that we had to deal with. If you cant handle this, then I HIGHLY suggest you find another profession...

if you are gonaa allow your child to go a to a party where drugs and or alcohol are being consumed or they are attending a "party" without responsible supervision to all hours of the day or night you pretty much deserve whatever you get and usually late at night only bad things happen.  This is why responsible parents have a curfew for their childern.  If the child went against his parents wishes well too bad for the kid and maybe the parent wasnt involved enough in their kids lives to prevent them from attending such parties.  Read the weekend paper sometime and see how many fights, stabbings or shootings are reported near late night bars and clubs....
