AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! MOTHRA!!!! |
Shit... 8 inches? That's one big ass moth. |
Middle pic is exceptionally Sweet! |
Yep. For comparison, the pipe is a 1" drain line from an air conditioner, and the tiles are 4" wide. Going just by what's visible, its wingspan is 7.7", but the wings are slightly raised, so they're really a bit wider. I figure it's close enough to 8" to call it that. ![]() Gorgeous honeybee shot, jvic! |
The pictures I posted were all taken with a Canon 400mm f5.6L prime lens on either a Canon 10D 6.2 MP, 20D 8.2 MP or a 5D 12.8MP DSLR camera. In a couple I also used a Tamron 1.4X teleconverter. |
Since I started this thread I will tell you what I used, but I am and it is apparent compared to these other guys photos a true amateur. I am just using a Sony Mavica 4 mega pixel camera. The thing I like about my digital camera is that you can adjust your setting and actually see how your picture is going to come out. I would be dead in the water if I had to use film. |
Just got done reading the "Credit Card Debt" Thread ... all is clear now. Great shots everyone. I can't compete.
|
Yep. Most of that debt is from two cameras and two lenses. But heck, you only go 'round once. |
I didn't even know there was such a beast as Photography & Photoshopping forum here. Tells you how much I get around! If I start looking around there I may not ever get my camera out again. |
You know, you can get great deals on used older model DSLRs...
|
Unfortunately I have more of a passion for guns than camera's and that is where my funding goes. Although, after seeing your pictures I could see how I could get addicted to it if I had your skills. |
I'm just a hobbyist. There are some guys on here with REAL skills (and the time and dedication to use them). They put me to shame. Seriously though, I've seen the Canon Digital Rebel 6MP DSLR sell for $400 used over at the Buy/Sell forums at www.fredmiranda.com so I think you could afford to get into one of those if you wanted. They are EXCELLENT cameras to get started with. |
Thanks for the link! I will check it out. |
Y'see, you have a good eye, and the patience to wait for the right opportunity. If you had quality equipment, you'd be taking some amazing shots. Do it! Get a high-end camera (doesn't mean major dollars especially if you buy it used). You won't regret it. |
Wow, where were the top two pictures taken? |
|
Thanks guys, I know I have a lot to learn, but it's nice to hear. Yours are all great too! I wish I could have got the nice milky water flow, but I didn't have any way to get a longer shutter speed...I need to invest in some filters, I guess! First two were taken on the same day in Colorado. The cow one is by Silver Jack Resevoir and the stream one was just up the road at Owl Creek Pass. I miss living in Colorado... Here is a bigger version...let me know if you need bigger still.

This is for you guys!. You are all bastages! www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=121&t=440355 |

This is a crappy scan of the printed image that's been in a frame next to my fountain for 6 years now (shit I'm old). I have a better copy on a CD somewhere. Taken in 2000 with my dad's 20 year old Ricoh SLR. ![]() Bonus points for anybody who know's where it is, and from where it was taken. I have an entire series of the sun going down, but that's my favorite one.
Nice snap. That's my new wallpaper. |
Looks a bit like Lake Powell to me. |

Yep. Most of that debt is from two cameras and two lenses. But heck, you only go 'round once.
