our police chief has started a program to paint all the Tucson PD cruisers black and white like LAPD.  it is supposed to make them "more professional"

this is the same chief who had the SWAT teams post sample AUGs thrown into the shredder instead of selling them or stripping them for parts and getting some money out of them when they converted to shorty M16s

I wish they'd paint cop cars florescent orange so I could see them better while speeding.

Miami County Sheriff's Office partol cars look like that too.  For some bizarre reason all Ohio Sheriff patrol cars and deputy uniforms look exactly the same.

All we got around here --aside from a county sheriff or a constable maybe, last state trooper I talked to told me they almost never come up here unless someone is already dead or worse. and aside from the occasional burglary almost nothing happens. Funny that --almost all my neighbors are armed to one degree or another and no standing police dept and almost no crime.
Actually If and when a state trooper car  does run through its somewhat of an event, so infrequent is its occurence.
Sorry to steal your pic Bob ! But I couldnt find a better one right now.

I'm not quite sure to be quite honest, but I guess so. The police are only allowed to buy Volvo V70, S60 and XC70, Toyota Avensis, Rav-4, Landcruiser and Hiace, Subaru Legacy, Impreza, Forester and Outback, Ford Mondeo, Mercedes Vito 115 cdi og Sprinter and Nissan Primera and X-trail.

The latter. There is local police departments but everything is pretty much controlled by the national police hq.

So, what's the story behind it?

IIRC, some of them (KCSD) read an article in some rag and something to do with pics, being funny or whatever (it was a while ago, I forgot about it until Aaron posted that pic and reminded me), with pics sent in to that rag--so KCSD made up that sticker and sent it in--that pic got widely distributed on base email, and I started a thread on it--it was supposed to be a joke, but it really ruffled some folks' feathers out there in KA.

One of the first police departments in the nation to use 802.11b in every patrol car.  Covers 50 square miles and allows them access to VOIP, e-mail, and remote controlled video cameras around the city.

Mesquite PD took this bad boy off of a big time drug dealer.  They got a house worth several hundred grand, $200,000 in cash, a couple of cars, and a boat.  The property got auctioned off and the money received went into the city's budget for the next year, along with the cash.  On the tailgate of the truck it says,"Donated by your friendly neighborhood meth dealer".

My hometown finally got its first real police car.  For years they relied on two old Cron Vctorias(not Police Interceptor) that had "West PD" stenciled on the doors, hood and trunk.

I love my hometown!
