Onmy buddies laptop on dial up on a generator. We got hit HARD. Estimates are we will be without power until Nov. 25. House isstructurally sound and everyone is in good health. I have food for 30 days and we just got the water back the other day. I have a generator but everyone is hurting for gas. All the stations have gas but no electric for the pumps. See you guys in a month. |

My grandparents and aunts house in Ft. Lauderdale got hit pretty hard but made it through. Their neighbors aren't so lucky. I'm driving over tomorrow with a generator and a few 15 gallon jugs for my grandparents. I will be there for a few days to help out in their area. It's a retirement community, so they are pretty much helpless. A few wannabe looters got run off by my uncle and his M1 Garand last night. When my grandmother told me that I thought I would bust a gut laughing. Oh well, off to get the hands dirty and bend the back a little. |
Keep cool, SteyrAUG. Dozens of internet gun buyers rely on you to handle their $5 "courtesy" FFL transfers! |
That ain't no joke. Funny how many people now want to "borrow" a gun. Nevermind I offered all of these guys one "at cost" several times. Now they want a "loaner." ![]() Looters are working and nightime is active. I'll be able to check in from time to time on my gen. Gas situation is getting better. Food situation is excellent, grocery stores coming up under their own power. But I did hand out a shitload of MREs on the first night to some locals who didn't have shit but a bunch of kids. I've got some pics, man this storm was a bastard. 122 mph sustained and reportedly gusted over 140 mph in my neighborhood. Glad my roof held, many people weren't as lucky. By Monday afternoon I had 2 roofs, the one on my house and the one in my front yard that came from someone elses house. Missed my house by 4 feet when it dropped out of the sky. It dinged my Dodge pretty good, which I had parked to block the front door. |
Not interesting, more like sad. Problem is if you give them loaners they will not suffer and they will not learn, and they will not arm and train themselves for the next problem. I wonder if the people with the kids will even offer to replenish your stocks afterwards, or if they simply forget and go on believing that the food fairy will always be there for them. |
Been telling everyone I don't have anything because of all the people who bought guns BEFORE the storm cleaned me out. And of course they then want to borrow one of my PERSONAL firearms. ![]() Yeah, cause that is going to happen. I tell them liability and insurance considerations, not to mention FFL regulations, prevent me from "loaning" anything out. All my neighbors who know what the hell they are doing already have guns, and most of the other shit they need. I continue to be amazed by the number of people who have lived here 20-30+ years who don't hav JACK SHIT in the way of hurricane supplies. Most only had food and water for 2 or 3 days. They are living on crackers and peanut butter and complaining how long the FEMA food and ice lines are. If you end up DEPENDING upon FEMA to save your bacon you kind of deserve to stand in those lines all day long. Also I can personally report that Southern Baptist Disaster Relief teams from Florida, Tennessee and Texas ALL beat FEMA to the punch with relief efforts in Broward County. Pretty sad when a volunteer church group from out of state has their shit more organized than the Federal Government. Fema also concentrated their efforts in Dade to the south and Palm Beach county to the north DESPITE the fact that the eye of the storm went OVER Broward County. If you view counties based upon relief efforts one might assume Broward did not get hit at all. On the plus side I've got the Coleman patio fireplace going at night in my driveway (lots of wood laying around for fuel these days) and the neighbors all have their law furniture in my front yard and we hang out at night while the kids make Smores on the fire. It ain't all bad. |
Believe me, SteyrAUG is ALL set for zombies. Glad you're making out okay buddy! As far as the church vs. .gov charities thing, that's the way it should be. .gov has no place in the charities business. And as far as I'm concerned that includes diaster relief too. It should be up to the local state and communities. But I'm just a cold, heartless conservative, so what do I know.

+10000000000 And some aren't even that prepared. Last TUESDAY, one day after the storm, listening to the radio without power at my place, I have to hear them interviewing people that shouldn't be allowed to breed say things along the lines of "Where's FEMA? I don't have milk for my children... Where's the government when we need them?" Yes, this is the day after the storm, probably less than 24 hours and they don't have any food. Peple are idiots. BTW no gas lines in southern Dade county up until Miami Beach, at least none that I've seen today. |
I am a few miles west of you. Power heading you way soon . I just got it yesterday. If you and your family need a warm shower and a washer and dryer, feel free to use mine in Margate. If you need gas, get on the Turnpike at Coconut Creek Pkwy and get gas at the Citgo on the southbound lane just past Atlantic Blvd. Its like $2.45 there and no lines at all and no limit. |
I appreciate it but we are doing pretty good. We have a solar water heater so we actually have hot showers and such. Gas station around the corner finally opened and no more gas lines. I'm running two 5500 watt gens. so I can run loads of laundry and hang them dry. I'm missing the AC though.

"Southern Baptist Disaster Relief"... are those are the ones who refused to hand out WATER supplies to hurricane victims donated by Anhieser Busch because they didn't want to appear to promote that evil company? ![]() |

I really hate thieves. They don't just steal "things" they steal "quality of life." After dinner last night I was walking up the side of my house to take out the garbage and a fucking minivan was parked in my front yard. They saw me walking up and bailed. The good news is they didn't get anything. The bad news is I had to spend the rest of the fucking night "on point" waiting for them or others. I have no idea what they were going after but if I didn't just happen to be there it's a safe bet it would have been gone in 30 seconds. Logic says the target was the generators but they are in back and locked up pretty good. Still could have been what they were after, who knows. As a consequence I didn't get much sleep. God I want to catch some of these fuckers. And when I finally DID fall asleep this morning I had a dream that my house had been robbed. ![]() We can't go anywhere or do anything because we can't leave the house unguarded. God I hate these fuckers. |
Does the florida contingent of ARFWATER need to mobilize?
