Never really understood the point, still kinda don't other than for activities that don't require Kevlar. But since I bought a PVS14 today, I'd like to get one so I have the option to wear it. What's a solid, budget option for a bump helmet? Thanks! ?? |

I just have a crye nightcap for my NVG needs. If I didn’t have that I’d probably get a cheap airsoft knock off. Maybe it’s because I’m not wearing my NVGs more than 2-3 hrs at a time, but I could never justify hundreds of dollars on a helmet that isn’t ballistic rated. |

I bought an exfil ltp back in 2018 new for 279 bucks and it felt like alot at the time, but I can't see myself ever going back. Makes it so much more pleasant to use. |

The battery pouch they sell for the rear helps if you need a counter weight. I also have a really expensive bump Helmet. It's better, but was probably not the best financial decision I've ever made. For something heavier like RNVGs the helmet starts to make more sense. |

I have a Team Wendy carbon something. To be fair, it was given to me. The Crye nightcap isn’t half bad for a monocular, you can stick it in a coat pocket. I have one for my 14. The 1531’s are on the helmet. Originally Posted By Fat_McNasty: Just go boonie cap.. I have bump and helmet. Carcajaou tactical https://carcajoutactical.com/en-us https://carcajoutactical.com/en-us/products/bravo-six-skull-harness-bundle ETA: I have 2 team Wendys and a OpsCor I think the Wendys are better. Also have a NiteCap. It works, but after a short while it gets uncomfortable to me. |

| I have a TW bump and also made my own boonie out of a Tracer Tactical harness. Trouble with the harness is it doesn't adjust on the fly like a helmet with a boa system, so it's hard to share. Otherwise I might prefer the boonie setup. With a counterweight it handles duals great, and stows way better. |

This if you don't want to pay full price. There's how to's out there on how to do up the cheap helmets. A helmet especially with attached ear protection is gonna be super stable with a single 14. Again with the hearing protection you don't have do peltors. There's how to's out there on how to use walkers or whatever with the different mounting methods. |

What if there was a 2lbs bump helmet that is made in America and stops 9mm...and is relatively cheap? |

The adjustments are not very intuitive but work fine once you get the hang of them. More comfortable than my amazon airsoft helmet with 4d pads. |

I have a Protec Bravo that I replaced the pads and harness in that works well. I also have an Opscore Bump that was awesome out of the box. |

| @Emt1581 I am semi-inadvertently following your NV quest. Your NV purchase thread was very informative, and I hope you post back on it once you have tried out your rig. I haven't pulled the trigger on anything yet, but am headed in that direction. |

Attached File I have an Ops-Core with the 4D Tactical pads. Weight pouch on the back is an airsoft brand because the name brand I wanted was perpetually out of stock for months. I find it comfortable. My activities don’t tend to require Kevlar unless the hogs grow opposable thumbs suddenly or the stars start falling on my head. It weighs less so is less neck strain. It is an actual bump helmet, as it does have a rating for… I think white water rafting or something, so it does offer some impact protection just not ballistic protection. Being a bump, it also has air holes so it breathes somewhat decently. |

Now this is coming from a guy that probably has more in thermals and NV than many people have in guns. I still dont have a kevlar helmet because reality. |

I have a big ass head. Â I don't want a big ass helmet that's DOT/OSHA approved, I just want a rigid skull cap. Even the ones they used in Blackhawk Down are probably modern and oversized, but it's the closest I can find an image of. https://image.kurier.at/images/cfs_1864w/2113708/6.jpg Conceivably you could just get a skateboard helmet and mount a shroud to it? |

That's my point, is I can't find an old school shell that's just 1/2" larger than your head, they're all 1" or more. ETA: I mean I get why, no one wants to sell a helmet that will get them sued. I just think the NV gear people are missing the boat with these skull caps and other soft contraptions. A rigid shell that is minimally larger than the skull it's going on is going to be significantly more stable of a platform to mount NODS on than anything made of fabric and webbing, significantly lighter than ACH mimic bump helmets, and look less like I'm larping when I'm just trying to smoke some 'yotes. |

Put in a piece of thin foam. Smash on skull. Just spitballing ideas. |

You're right and I thought of that I just need to get in a store so I can physically evaluate size as trial and error via Amazon was getting expensive. |
