Ya, pretty easy questions. I had a few minutes to kill so I researched the Mulberry question. [:D] garandman is correct on the 1st question. My #'s according to one web site is 5,436 killed or wounded. More facts: Allied: 150,000 Troops (11 Divisions) 1,500 Tanks (2 Divisions) 5,300 ships and landing craft 12,000 airplanes 20,000 airborne troops Germans in the battle zone: 80,000 Troops 1 Panzer tank division Germans Defending France: 60 Infantry Divisions 10 Tank Divisions Casualties: 2,500 Allied soldiers killed. D-Day planners had forcast 10,000 dead.

I have always thought that May 1st was the ORIGINAL date, but was delayed because a lack for landing crafts, many were brought from the Pacific theater. Delayed again on the 5th cause of the weather.
