[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Help me understand the forums please (Page 1 of 2)

So I'm a new member. I joined last year to post pictures of my ar-15 in progress and ask for help, but for some reason my password would no longer work, despite my repeated attempts to reset it using my email on file. Was I under a temperary ban? I also notice that my ond topics seem to have dissappeared.
Anyways, my password recently stsrted working again so I've been more active. Can someone help me out with the basics? I've got a few burning questions... If someone quotes/replies to me in a thread, do I get a notification of this? I notice that in the "My Topics" tab, I'm forced to filter what results I can view; is there any way to see all of my threads at once, without having to select different filters? What are the benefits of paying for a membership? Whats all the bullshit under everyones avatar? I always see a mess of stars and green/red dots. I commented on someones post, asking them a question, and now I cant find the post. Is there any way for me to see allthe threads I've commented on? Why does everyone rag on the site search feature? I recently discovered The Pit, man that looks like a hoot, its actually a pretty neat way for people to settle things; kudos to whoever had that Idea. Thank you in advance |

Thank you in advance I do not see a ban on your file, but you'd have to talk to staff if it was potentially an email related issue. quotes do not give a notification, but if someone @mentions you like this @Jackmulderig then you should receive a notification. My "my topics" button allows an "all forums" selection. Perhaps this is a paid feature. The main benefit of a paid membership is supporting the site. Aside from that, you get some enhanced functionality, and as you go higher up the tiers, more useful stuff. Photo hosting, email hosting, etc. Bling under avatar can be identified by hovering over it with your mouse The subscriptions tool will help you find posts you've participated in. If you've got a paid membership anyway. Not sure how well it works for unpaid, if at all. People complain about the search feature because they don't understand how to work it. Once you figure out that it isn't just a type word and click go, and that you can specify lots of specifics and wildcards, date ranges and other settings...it's quite powerful. |

Howdy.
So jumping right in. The Green Dot is a feedback score of equipment exchange transactions. The star is representative of the membership you have/bought. Bronze silver, gold, and lifetime. Yes, you should get a notification if you get a mention. Just ask @kubota3430
The pit actually is for conflict resolution. It's not just to call people fags , but .....feel free to do so. Read the code of conduct. You will get a time out or a ban for many many things . For searching I just Google what I want and put AR15.com behind it. Or do site: |

Can someone help me out with the basics? I've got a few burning questions... If someone quotes/replies to me in a thread, do I get a notification of this?no, but you can track interested threads with subscribed threads. (or maybe you can't without paying?) lol I notice that in the "My Topics" tab, I'm forced to filter what results I can view; is there any way to see all of my threads at once, without having to select different filters?it defaults to all forums... So... What are the benefits of paying for a membership?green arrows, babe of the day, imbed youtube vids, team forums, avatar. At least for me
Whats all the bullshit under everyones avatar? I always see a mess of stars and green/red dots . fun icons for things like pistol instructor, dealer, nra life member, icons for different branches if you served etc. The red/green dots are online / offline status. I commented on someones post, asking them a question, and now I cant find the post. Is there any way for me to see allthe threads I've commented on?$24 subscribed threads, so maybe that answers my first response Why does everyone rag on the site search feature?it can be meh, and they get called out for dupes. I've had pretty good luck with it. I recently discovered The Pit, man that looks like a hoot, its actually a pretty neat way for people to settle things; kudos to whoever had that Idea. If I can only kill one, does that mean I have to eat the other alive? I'm killing the snake, that seems dangerous to be trapped with, I'm fucking the pig, only because I think it'd be easier to eat Hillary Clinton alive that eating a live snake or sow. |
