As dark as it is outside, you'd think it was cloudy. But nope.

Little Rock here, I thought it would get darker, it barely dimmed outside and we were around the 90% band. Weak sauce, bro.

We had 55 seconds of totality at our place. Pretty darn cool. Temperature dropped 10 degrees or so - it felt like we were standing next to an air conditioner. It got dimmer and dimmer and then got pretty darn dark. A bit brighter than walking around on a full moon, but it was that indistinct light you get at dusk, where it just gets kinda hard to see everything. Coyotes started howling. Chickens went inside. Neighbors started shooting guns. The sun looked awesome - killer corona - way better than any photo can communicate.
My favorite part was just as the sun started peeking out, when we were still looking up without glasses, and it was like a tiny brilliant diamond. 10 minutes later we were inside hoping to see tv news of traffic jams for our sick pleasure. Wife was instagramming video of me wearing glasses, pretending to do rave/hippy dancing for our 10 yr old son, to a live version of Deodato's Also Sprach Zarathustra. That was probably the best part. |

Pretty cloudy here, gave way for a couple peeks. Got about as dark as when a midday thunderstorm rolls through

Sunny almost up to the point of maximum eclipse for northern Iowa and then the clouds rolled in. Can't see shit.

Yep, and I am in KY where it's 96%. It's because all these pics you see it looks pitch black, because the filters used to capture the image. When, in reality. it's about equivalent to a shady day. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

It's pretty damned dark here right now. I looked through someone's glasses and it was about 3/4 coverage. Crickets started.

About 30 miles from Cola Warrior location. You could tell it darkened and the shadows from trees pretty much went away.

I made a cereal box viewer.....NASA approved I'll have you know.
Peak here (87%) was at a 2:40.....And it's gone. The viewer worked well enough but damn, I thought I'd never get through that box of cereal. Attached File |

The eclipse was awesome! Here's a quick edit from one of my shots.

Way over hyped.
It may have been better in totality zones but we were supposedly at 94% and it looked a little cloudy and a few degrees cooler. It gets much darker here several times a year during thunderstorms. A big meh here. |

100% in Greenville....probably one of the coolest things I have ever been through. Taking off the glasses for 2 minutes was amazing.

It just peaked here a few mins ago. I have to say, that was pretty freaking awesome. I cannot imagine how such an event would have screwed with ancient cultures. Glad I was able to see it 100% from the comfort of my front porch.

Here in TX it got slightly darker and a little cooler. Looked about like the previous photo that made the sun look like a crescent. Still pretty neat to watch. They bought glasses for all the kids at my sons school so they got to see it as well.
