I think it's Bama's sigline ...... you do your thing and I'll do mine. |

I don't know why atheists need to stamp out religion. Not to put too fine a point on it, but atheists are not necessarily anti-theists. Evangelical atheists and theocratic atheists are just two modern permutations of secular antiintellectualism. It has very little to do with atheism; that's just a convenient excuse. Man has always desired to control what other people think. It's never changed, and it never will. |

If for the inevitable shitstorm![]() I'm a Christian and I'm proud of my beliefs. I don't look down or treat others differently if they don't believe the same as me. I also do not try to change their beliefs. So I don't know why people have to try to say that I'm wrong, act intellectually superior to me, or try to convince me that I'm wrong because they don't believe in God.

(Agnostic here) Hmm, well any that are popular and published anyway. I seem to recall one a while back about randomness vs. order with chaos theory etc that was pretty convincing for a 'higher intelligence' Personally, I think atheists are short sighted for not thinking that a society exists (like ourselves in a thousand or so years) that have overcome disease and mortality, with such intelligence of the physical laws of the universe that they can create suns, worlds, etc. If you dont' die and can create stuff, aren't you a "God" ? |

He says that science and the "Big Bang" can explain the creation of the universe. And who exactly made the matter for the Big Bang? For someone so "smart" he is exceptionally stupid. so, you are saying that a deity, "GOD" created "the matter for the big bang"? edit for my follow up question: is it possible the "matter for the big bang" always existed? you cant say god always existed without allowing the possibility that something else always existed also. unless you are saying god self ceated. in which case i'd like to see your reasoning on that. |

Of course, as we do regularly in the spirit of simple discussion and debate. My comment was general in general terms. |

It was when I was a kid... I walked away from "believing" because it was too hard living by the Law... Then I discovered Jesus, and Grace... And now I'm just thankful for what He did for me on the cross, and am able to live my life free of the condemnation that I used to feel all the time trying to do it on my own! - Clint |

From the wording, it appears that AlaskaCajun isnt willing to risk explaining to God why Alaskacajun didnt need god. The use of the word risk implies that of the possible consequences, at least one negative exists. It looks to me like Alaskacajun only believes in God due to the possible ramifications. names used to avoid confusions with "he" and "him" I'm am NOT saying that is the case, just odd wording to me. |

I don't know why atheists need to stamp out religion. They see others receiving great peace and comfort from their faith, while they themselves, are left out, so they want to prevent others from having what they do not themselves have. |

I can say confidently that EVERY scientific study ever conducted in the history of mankind has failed to provide evidence for the existence of God. People confidently say all sorts of things without actually knowing what they are talking about. Some of them are even confused about the differences in the meanings of the words "proof" and "evidence". |

All these universe books ever really say is in a whole bunch of words is "no one knows".
They are entertaining and I do not pretend to be an expert on the subject, but I have read several and am competent enough to understand the principle hypothesis in them. I haven't scratched a higher being off my list. |

We can create matter just fine in a collider. No reason not to think the universe was created in a similar way by a higher being.
But then who created him and his collider? Ah, the tough question that science cannot answer. The big bang is an elegant theory about the beginning but it fails to answer what was before the beginning... and it never will. |

So who made God then? The book Universe From Nothing explains is as nothing existed so it was the right recipe for something. Which makes sense except when you put time against it. No one can really say what was before. |

A lot of GD believes God is kind of a jerk. As represented in posts such as: Quoted:
Hawking: "God did not create the universe." God: "Enjoy your chair" Nice guy. Perhaps they're creating God in their own image. Who knows. |
