What do you think of the upcoming Windows 10? It won't launch until 2015, but a preview version is available now. I haven't used it yet, but what I have read about it so far looks promising. The start menu is back, metro apps now run in normal windows vs taking over the whole screen, and it now has virtual desktops. 8's Swipe menus are still present if you really want to use them. It basically looks like how 8 should have looked if they didn't go full retard. Future versions of Windows will come via updates to Windows 10 to ala OS X, and Android.
What do you think? Any issues? What are the system requirements? Is it a resource hog, or does it run in about the same footprint as Windows 7? If I get a (cheaper) Windows 7 laptop now, will it be able to run Windows 10 when it comes out? Just to say it because it makes me happy: Windows 8 has now officially joined Windows ME, and Windows Vista. |

MS is on borrowed time, one fuck up after another, surface tablet, windows phone, windows 8. ![]() ![]() If they don't start innovating they are in real trouble. They just laid off a bunch of people and there are a lot more lay offs coming. They have been under horrible leadership. http://www.infoworld.com/article/2608482/techology-business/microsoft-layoffs--what-the-bloodbath-leaves-behind.html |

After using Win 8.1 on a touch-screen laptop...I wouldn't buy anything that doesn't have touch-screen capabilities. Incidentally, you can set Win 8.1 to have a desktop and start button without installing Classic Shell. What do you find better about a touch screen as opposed to a mouse? |

Works great on my wife's Windows tablet, but imho tap is still second place to kb/mouse. |

| With Microsoft, the general rule of thumb is that their operating systems alternate between useful and sucking ass. For example, ME blew goats. XP was awesome. Vista sucked. Windows 7 was good. Windows 8 also blows. So I assume whatever the follow-on to that is will be just fine. |
