Hey guys I'm looking at a new ccw either the MP40c MP9c or Glock 26. I do not currently have a subcompact pistol for carry, I used a mp40 fullsize during winter months as I wear a jacket over it and no one can tell. I previously had a Glock 27 and it felt like My hand was being smashed with every round fired.  If the MP40c recoil impulse is anything like the 27 I do not want it and will get either the MP9c or 26.

Anyone have anything to share on the topic? I'm leaning more to either the MP40c as I have a lot more .40 than 9mm I already own the fullsize version so I could have extra mags. The 26 would also fit as I have a 17 for extra mags.

I'm really going to try to rent one at a range and test at least a box through each pistol.

I don't think you could go wrong with either weapon.
I have a Gen 4 g26 and love it.
However I carry a Gen 4 19 it is only about 1/2" longer and taller.
The g26 is for T-shirt carry and fills that role perfectly.

Everyone who has a CPL should have at least one subcompact IMHO.

A lot of good models out there.

I have always felt that the 26 is the perfect carry gun.

Have you fired a MP40c any experience with the recoil impulse on it. I have fired about 4 diffrent fullsize .40 but the subcompacts chew my hands up bad.

I just went through this last month. Own a 17 and had a 19 at the time. I traded the 19 off for a shield 9 and a raven holster. Very happy with the shield. You give up 2 rounds to get a lighter slimmer gun. Recoil is very manageable.

Can't really go wrong with either one.  Personally, I have a surgically repaired middle finger on my shooting hand and Glocks hurt my knuckle so bad that I can't shoot them.  I carry a M&P9c in the cooler months both IWB in a Crossbreed Supertuck Shorty and OWB in a Blackpoint Tactical kydex.  I had to add an Apex DCAEK to get the trigger like I wanted.  I've always found stock Glock triggers more than acceptable so you may want to consider that expense.

I guess I'd shoot both and then make the call.

The slide length is not the issue with CC for me it is the grip length and that would be aost as big as my 17 or MP40

You sure you aren't talking about a 26? The 19 holds 15 rounds in the mag.

G19 is always appropriate. Once you have 15 rounds in your holster, it's hard to leave the house with anything less. However, if you want something thinner and lighter for summer carry, a Sheild would be acceptable. Spare mag is needed, however IMO.

I vote shield 9. Super comfortable to shoot and accurate. I sold my G27 after firing a few mags through my shield it was that good. The big dot sights are easy to acquire very easy to conceal. AND you can get by pocket carrying it with the 7rd mag and I dont feel like I'm going to blow my dick off since it does have the safety for the rare times I do pocket carry. Yes you lose some capacity but the mags are small enough to carry a spare without weighing you down.

Shoot the G27 more.   It'll get less stingy with time.

Ruger SR9c and remove the stupid magazine disconnect (easy to do). I put in a Ghost Inc. trigger, too, and altogether makes for an awesome carry pistol.

Glock 27 was sold after I put 300 rounds down range trying to get used to the recoil and small grip. I think I'll be going with a MP40c if I can shoot one before I buy.

I'd go with the MP40c because you already have the full size and you can carry a full size reload.

I would also give some consideration to a Shield as well because you'll probably end up with something that size eventually.

I own (and like) all three of those guns and a G27.  Any one of the three that you mentioned has less recoil than a G27.  I carry the G26 because it's smaller than the M&P's and is easy to shoot and quite accurate.  Put a G26 side-by-side with the M&P compact at a gun store, you'll see what I mean about size.  I put a Pearce pinkie extension on one of my G26 mags for a little extra grip length for range use.

Buy any of those guns with confidence.
