Last night RBAD was subjected to one of a man's greatest fears. Watching a movie your wife or G/F has picked out. In order to prevent this from happening again to one of us, I propose that us guys make a list of movies we can steer the girls to that they will like, and we can at least tolerate. My recommendation is "The Majestic" with Jim Carey. Mushy, but not sickening. |

Quoted: I heard Chocolat was good DonR![:D] hehehe Damn, deadeye, that's harsh!!![:D] You met my wife in Tulsa. Ususally she goes for stuff like BHD, and Fast and the Furious, but everyonce in a while she'll slip in a Vanilla Sky, or Serendipity if I'm not looking. |

Damn I hate lockups...had to reboot. Anyway, here's a couple for ya. #1 - LEGENDS OF THE FALL (1994) Brad Pitt, Anthony Hopkins, Aidan Quinn, Julia Ormond. Good story, great cinematography, and Julia [sex] aaah. Alright Brad does moon for the camera as the misundertood loner [rolleyes] once too often, but the chicks love the guys, and the guys will love the (few but well done) action scenes. #2 - THE USUAL SUSPECTS (1995) Stephen Baldwin, Kevin Spacey, Benecio Del Toro, Gabriel Byrne Here's a guys "Whadafukhappened" flick, that will keep you guessing [thinking]. Usually takes a few viewings. Good action scenes and a couple of plans that are downright amusing. Line to use with the GF - "It's a story of a guy who wants to go straight, but has to do one last job to save the love of his life." #3 - WAY OF THE GUN (2000) Benecio Del Toro, James Caan, Juliette Lewis, Taye Diggs A film with some outstanding weapons handling, and a f**d up plot (It's dismaying to think somebody would feel the need to try a stunt like this, but unfortunately for us, it's believable in today's world) Line to use with the GF - "It's a film about the lengths a man will go to to protect his children" #4 ABSOLUTE POWER Clint Eastwood Alright, I didn't get time to get all the background on this one, but it's not a bad flick (it's got Eastowoods for chrissakes), and it beats watching Fried Green Tomatoes again. #5 THE JACKAL Bruce Willis, Richard Gere Alright, it does seem kind of unamerican to see Willis as a questionably sexual terrorist who has no problem killing innocaent women and children [wacko](warm up the democrats), but there are some cool scenes, and the good guys win out in the end. Line for the GF- "it's about an unrequited love, and the lengths he'll go to to protect her, despite having gone their seperate ways." #6 - FIRST KNIGHT Richard Gere, Sean Connery, Julia Ormond Alright, it's repackaged Arthur and Camelot stuff, but it's mushy enough to keep her interest, and manly enough to get an occasional "YEAH" when a sword connects[kill]. Besides, its got James bond for crissakes. Line for the GF-"It's a timeless tale of forbidden love that has become part of our cultural mythos" (Alright, maybe my liberal arts degree was a little _too_ liberal [rolleyes]) Tango7 |

Quoted: [b][red]WARNING!![/RED]:[/B] DO NOT see "Royal Tannenbaums" or "Zoolander"!! OMFG - you will want want to KILL yourself if you rent those!! I'll second this... We rented The Royal Tennenbaums last week and turned it off half way through; we both felt that cleaning the house would be more entertaining. |
| Once in a while they surprise you. My wife does not like war movies. To this day I have not been able to get her through the first twenty minutes of Saving Private Ryan. She did watch BHD though and liked it. Go figure. BTW, there was one movie that I though I was going to hate which I relented and watched with her. It turned out to be not as bad as I thought: Life As A House. |

My wife rented this recenty - a foreign film. A FRENCH film! I thought it was good. Sometimes you get surprised! The Eighth Day (1995) [NR] 108 minutes; in Color Genre(s): Buddies, Lovable Loonies, Mental Retardation, Repressed Men Cast: Daniel Auteuil, Pascal Duquenne, Miou-Miou, Henri Garcin, Fabienne Loriaux, Isabelle Sadoyan, Helene Roussel, Michele Maes; DIRECTED BY: Jaco Van Dormael; WRITTEN BY: Jaco Van Dormael; CINEMATOGRAPHY BY: Walther Vanden Ende; MUSIC BY: Pierre Van Dormael. PRODUCER: Philippe Godeau, Eric Rommeluere, Dominique Josset, Gramercy Pictures. Awards: Cannes 1996: Actor (Auteuil), Actor (Duquenne). Review: Sugary story about workaholic businessman Harry (Auteuil), whose wife Julie (Miou-Miou) has just left him, taking their daughters. Driving home, Harry finds Georges (Duquenne) by the side of the road. Georges, who has Downs syndrome, has left the institution he's been living in and, though Harry tries to take him to the nearest police station, Georges refuses to leave him. Naturally, the emotionally deprived Harry begins to loosen up and, when Georges is finally returned to his group home, all his friends decide to help with Harry's attempts to win back his family. Thick with whimsy but the lead performances are excellent. French with subtitles. |

Holy Crap! I misread the topic... I thought you meant "Movie TITS" [:D] Actually.. The movie wasn't all that bad after all was said and done. I am staying at my sister's house (to use their indoor pool for back therapy and to get free food [;)]). Tonight they made us watch Meet The Parents. EXCELLENT MOVIE !! Hey Don --> Here is the pic of the day: My nephew the cutest kid in the world !) trying to drown me... [img]rbad.ar15.com/rich_and_gary.jpg[/img] |

Another vote for "Raising Arizona". The Princess Bride - enough "true love" crap to keep GF blubbering, but more than enough humor to keep you laughing. Unforgiven - the relationship that W. Munny had with his deceased wife seems to be pleasing. The powerful scene with Munny and the maimed hooker is also a draw. For us there's the all-star cast and plenty of hard core action. |

Quoted: Smokey and the Bandit. Damn that's a great movie. Not wife material though. My wife, as well as some other women I know really liked Gladiator. The whole Russel Crow thing I think. She actually really liked LOTR as well. Of course that was the whole Viggo thing, I think. I find most comedies to be pretty gender neutral. Austin Powers, et. al. As far as her movies I didn't mind so much, Legally Blonde wasn't so bad. |
