Paultards: maximizing libertarian losses since 2008. «nolite confidere in principibus, in filiis hominum quibus non est salus» http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michigan_left The design occurs at intersections where at least one road is a divided highway or boulevard, and left turns onto—and usually from—the divided highway are prohibited. In almost every case, the divided highway is multi-laned in both directions. When on the secondary road, drivers are directed to turn right. Within 1⁄4 miles (400 m), they queue into a designated U-turn (or cross-over) lane in the median. When traffic clears they complete the U-turn and go back through the intersection. Additionally, the U-turn lane is designed for one-way traffic. Similarly, traffic on the divided highway cannot turn left at an intersection with a cross street. Instead, drivers are instructed to "overshoot" the intersection, go through the U-turn lane, come back to the intersection from the opposite direction, and turn right. ... |

FUCK. NO.
Ever watch an old Biddie and/or her 89 year old husband negotiate a roundabout? They're putting them in everywhere around here. Nothing says "I'm old and stupid" like watching some old fuck try to go left at a roundabout designed for righthand movement. A Michigan left? 10 times worse. |

Meh... the lattest & biggest thing in Michigan is the roundabout... there's a tripple roundabout in Brighton referred to as " the Circles of Doom" Roudabouts are starting to get popular in Central Ohio in places like Dublin and Hilliard, I kind of like them now. |

Quoted: Meh... the lattest & biggest thing in Michigan is the roundabout... there's a tripple roundabout in Brighton referred to as " the Circles of Doom" They are great when they work right. Problem is that most people have no idea what they are doing when it comes to them. ![]() |

Looks like Holland. Grand Haven. Just drove through both those areas today, was going to mention them. ![]() Yeah, but we all know you Ill-annoys people can't drive anyway.
BTW: How's your little Michigan adventure coming along? Going good. Love the Ludington area! If you really want to see some shit drivers, play frogger on the freeway with the ghetto rats from Crown Point through Gary Indiana!! They think everyday is the 500, and make us Illy-noyuns look like we know what the hell we are doing. |

Quoted: Could be worse, Missouri is adding these stupid things! http://images.usatoday.com/news/graphics/2010/2010-1-27-diverging%20diamond/diamond.jpg ODOT was going to do one of those on I-480 in Cleveland... they announced it years back but it never happened. Maybe after they announced it, the chorus of WFTOs made them change their minds ![]() |

ODOT put one of these in near me. Works ok... But when the traffic lights go out, it's a frigging disaster. http://www.ohio-share.coxnewsweb.com/multimedia/dynamic/00486/austin_pike_interse_486674c.jpg Wow, just wow.

remnds me of the new jersey jug handles. The jug handles replaced the giant traffic circles. Ellisburg, and Ractrack on route 70 were the most famous, and the most dangerous... Funny how NJ spent millions of dollars to get rid of those clusterfucks...and other states are putting them in. They are.OK when you have little two lane roads, but when the area expands...massive clusterfuck! |

Paultards: maximizing libertarian losses since 2008. «nolite confidere in principibus, in filiis hominum quibus non est salus» The "Michigan turn". Instead of turning left at the intersection you go drive through and turn around down the road to get onto the other side of the road to turn right. Supposed to make traffic more efficient. |

Quoted:
Don't try the Michigan left at 12 Mile and Telegraph at 5:00 on a weekday unless you have an extra half hour to waste.
Don't try a Michigan left at 12 mile and Telegraph at any time of the day. I seek to avoid that hot mess of an intersection and the mixing bowl, even if I have to drive miles out of my way to do it.

A variation of the Michigan left.... http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/4f/Superstreet.svg/800px-Superstreet.svg.png The Superstreet. This strikes me as something that's a whole lot better for road contractors than it is for traffic flow. |
