I have been using SETI@home for just over 3 years now.  496 workunits and 15946 hours and counting!  I had been running it on a 333 Mhz K6-2 machine with 64 meg of ram.  The workunits were taking around 44 hours.  I'm now using a 1.4 Ghz Athlon Thunderbird with 256 meg of DDR ram on a 266 Mhz front-side bus motherboard.  Now the workunits take only 6.5 hours to complete!!  [bounce]

Edited to add that I joined as well.

Pls give me a briefing.

We had a contractor that thought it was a really neat program.

He installed it on 6 our our production servers.  That made life very interesting.

He's gone now.  'snif.  He will NOT be missed.

There was quite a debate some time back regarding this supposed cancer research and who exactly would benefit from all that crunching... After reading all the information available at the time I stayed with SETI.
