M1337 3d Printed Gatling Gun in Beta (Page 7 of 9)

I have three different strength striker springs right now. If you were to listen carefully when cranking mine it sounds like, "click" "click" "tink" "CLICK" "CLICK" "tink". Not sure when I'll be able to test fire this. I'm not in any hurry. But I imagine I would need to replace the weaker striker strings. |

I still need to get the bolts made for my M1337. I've got a 240V electric kiln for making knives that would allow for the correct time and temperature soaks for this stuff. Would need the proper equipment to support the parts while they heat and fuse. And then you'd need a way to quench and temper them. |

Surprised no one's posted this yet. |

I checked to doc file but it does not describe the differences between b3 and this release delinker had 2 removable wear points, the center spindle looks like a few small changes. Addition of the ammo rail and clips to attach. bolts have a very small change of a dimple for color and reduction of one of the rails for easier extraction. Better drill jigs and center cluch pinion a small tweek. Changes to the tripod as well. Thats all ive seen so far. |

I pulled up the spindle and I don't really see any of the changes you were talking about. Maybe I need to look closer lol ETA: anyone on here know if Nopel is going to restock the strikers anytime soon? I am having a hell of a time getting them consistent and to my (admittedly high) standards. |

OK, here's a twist. Is there any reason this would not work w/ 300BO? a barrel change and what else? Get some 8-10 inch barrels for ultimate concealment! Can you imagine printing a suppressor or buying suppressors, this would be stupid quiet with subs being it's not gas operated. If it's as quiet as my 300BO bolt gun it would be ridiculous to hear not much on one end and a lot of bullets impacting targets on the other. And I assume with a barrel change you're back to 556 |

Video on X in the tweet. Not sure how to get it to show up here. |

Thanks for the links, needs a stronger ejection spring for 300? (per the vid). The short barrels and silencer make it looks pretty bad-ass. I have no idea how effective the suppressor is but with the shared volume should be very effective. At least on the video it reduced the 'bang' to a simple 'snap', of course no telling how the video represents the actual sound. |

What the 1337 needs is some type of arm brace. I can't imagine being operated by a single person grabbing one handle it's very steady. Videos show the gun moving around quite a bit. An arm brace that braces against the forearm (think forearm crutches) and allows a left-handed grip should be much steadier. I'm surprised no one has designed one. And no, I can't as I have zero design skills. ETA: How hard is it to change out the barrels? If one wanted to go from 223 to 300bo, is it simply a big job or, 'nah bro, you don't want to do that, just print a second receiver'. |

Easily a dozen plus bolts. @Postal0311 Thanks for the reply, I'm heavily considering a 1337 build but debating calibers. If the 300 doesn't work well then, it's definitely 2nd place. But here's my question: Instead of changing barrels. What about 2 complete barrel set ups, how hard would it be to remove 223 set up and install 300 set up. Kinda like putting a new upper on an AR but more involved. Maybe I'll start with the 223 and go from there. I just like the quietness of subs. I also wonder if other calibers are coming (22, 9mm, 45 etc...). 9 would be cool for subs. |

Would likely need major changes for pistol calibers. There are something like 4-6 screws holding the receiver end cap on. One could take that off, pull out the entire barrel cluster, and replace the barrel cluster. You'd need the most expensive bearing and would have to pull all the bolts before and reinstall them after the change. I think you are overthinking this, and romanticizing an impractical idea. Edit: It maybe 1000-1500 to build one of these. If you are really nuts about .30 short & weak but also want to use 5.56, might make more sense to build two. |

Thanks @Postal0311 unfortunately I overthink pretty much everything, paralyses by analyses for me. It's my curse and I am not really joking when I say that. My wife on the other hand is the exact opposite; she'll wank into a store and say 'that's the one I want'. It makes my skin crawl and I'm thinking, "Don't you want to look at EVERY choice in this store, then go to 5 other places, then look online?" ![]() Do you have any idea how effective that giant silencer is, it would be cool to have one 3D printed in Ti. Are most folks using 16" barrels, or shorter barrels. If I'm going to run a can(s) on the end maybe shorter barrels would be the trick. After the NFA tax goes away it might be cool to buy 6 of the B&T Tiger 22 cans, light, cheap, effective, and handle 556. Have you built one? What's the best filament. As you can see, I'm already overthinking this build... ETA: Question about the silencer- if it uses a shared volume, would the pressure travel back up the other barrels or is the chamber closed except when cycling to pick up a new round |

If it's just a "firearm" and not a rifle then it doesn't have a barrel length requirement. Your best bet to stay out of trouble would be to pick barrels that would give a minimum overall length of 26" as the ATF has written in letters regarding 1919A4s. Shorter than 26" and they may claim it's an AOW since it's not a pistol fired with one hand. |

Is anyone having belt delinker issues pushing the round through the link? It has been an ongoing issue wherein rarely the cranking of rounds will hard stop and I can't get past it. I then have to remove the delinker and then the system will rotate. For me, turns out some of the link tabs really get stuck on the rim and won't push out. I fixed it by redrawing the link and changing the tab lip to a 45deg angle so the rim will slide past the lip and not get stuck. |
|
I was having the problem where the links weren't holding the rim at all. I started printing them at 45degree angle, and made them a couple of % undersize in x/y axis and they start working a lot better *FOR ME*. YMMV.. tinker with it. |

Literally just discovering this print today. I'm curious: 1. What's the approximate overall cost for all parts including whatever filament is used? 2. Is this something any amateur printer (w/ a P1S and harderened nozzle) can do or is there any programming/customization involved? I've been turning a wrench on cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, and flipped two houses largely by ourselves to give an idea of capability. 3. How many rounds can this handle? I saw Nopel say <400rds a year ago. Any updates/increases? Thanks!! Oh...and if I replace the hand crank with something battery operated... does that piss off the alphabet people? |

Well, that's where you need to get a lawyer because it could very quickly land you in federal prison, but the IRS issued a ruling in 1955 that says something really funny. Attached File I don't know if the M1337 is gear driven or if that determination was later overruled by determinations regarding electric trigger on the minigun and the like, so it may not be applicable, but an SOT could design an M1337A1 with a gear driven mechanism to fall within those patents and send it in for a determination knowing they'd likely be told its an MG... |

It is a simple, time consuming print job for the bambu. I did mine using pla-cf and paht. Follow the directions of m1337. It is only hand cranked. Yea, don't even try, think about, solicit advice, question, or daydream about anything other than hand cranked. It is plastic, not rated for high volume extended wear. But, fun to try. And if it breaks, then print a replacement part. Just fun and unique. |
