I found Chinn's volume 5 of the machinegun available on archive.org. Actually all 5 volumes are there. This link is applicable. https://archive.org/details/TheMachineGunVolume5ByGeorgeMChinn/page/n79/mode/2up |

No, I haven't really worked on it. Found my micro-lathe doesn't have the power to turn the bolts down like I wanted. And the private property I was going to shoot this on got sold. Other than functional tweaking, all I should need to do is making the bolts/firing pins and cam pins. But I have felt no motivation to do so as I don't know where I would shoot it. |

I am waiting on the bolt carrier (which i am having printed out of polished stainless steel, and Nopal's striker set.) I also agree with you on the where to shoot. If we had not moved "to the TX country" I probably wouldn't have started this. We used to live in an HOA. I am probably about 30 days out from test firing mine. My long term objective is to re-design the delinker for M27 links. It gives me some mental fun on the design. If it ever finishes. |

Nopal's ability to design, model, and test, is exceptionally remarkable. All done inside an animation only modeling program. Which does not even have a stp export function. |

Nopel agreed to an interview for an article on Thetruthaboutguns. I've been following the m1337 for a while, absolutely love what nopel is doing. I need one of these on my Hilux! If any of you printers are in NW Oregon and need a private test range for yours, HMU |

I am close to being able to live fire mine. But still having an issue with carriers/bolts randomly locking up. |

Anyone else having random lockups of the rotating mechanism and carrier/bolts seemingly to lockup? @jestertoo @fat_mcnasty @postal0311 I have found, trying different things, that it occurs 100% if I have the gun in a vertical up with barrels pointing up. It will rotate around and then one carrier assembly, randomly, will hard lock to rotation in the clockwise and a different position in the counter clockwise. If I then turn the gatling so it is sitting vertical, on the barrels, then rotated, I can "unlock" the jam. Is this happening to anyone else? Picture of the assembly sans any strikers. Attached File |

I tried one bolt/carrier group at a time until I figured out which one it was. Then I slightly rotated the barrel in the cluster clamp slightly one way or the other until it quit doing it. I have all my bolts/carriers numbered to the cluster so that they all stay aligned. |

I'm thinking the 1.5mm is just a bit much and causing the bolt to lift and jam the bolt bearing into the side of the track. Look into the receiver and check right in front of the removable ramp. |

I found the cause of the semi random crank lockups. I was testing using carriers with uncut bolts, uncut fire pins, and no strikers. I did not want to accidentally fire a round. The lockups occur when the barrels are pointed up and the fire pins slide back far enough to let the cam pin turn. This will randomly catch going forward on part of the bolt assembly. See the picture. Attached File The cure is simply to use cut bolts, fire pins, and strikers. To make sure I can test the cycling I am going to use pins with the front ground off so no way to touch the back of a round. I will let you know how it goes. Oh, and I ordered and will have next week the Aluminum front spindle I had printed. I am slowly ordering the parts made from metal. The next set will be the clutch parts. That is a design that hates any variance. |

Part of me wants to see if I blow up the long front, but it makes more sense to do what you did just so I can at least see if it cranks without worrying about blowing the front. Then after it works, definitely video slomo the front destruction. Thanks for showing me. I am going to copy you. |

Hey, no more barrel locks. Got the bolts and pins cut and installed. This set of pins are to test feeding and function and have the pin ends ground off so no touchy the live round testing. Kind of neat hearing the strikers firing. With metal carriers and such total weight is up 31.5 lbs. Attached File |

Got the AL front spindle today and installed it into the delinker. No more double feeds and jams. Tested a 42 round set. Easy crank, consistent spool. Attached File Attached File Attached File |

I would be nice to be able to tip the gun up for storage or transport without the bolts locking it up. |

His was locking up because he didn't have all the parts in them. |

Finally got everything together and tested. Found a good spec for springs that will fire all types of ammo: 855, tracer, 193, 223. OD0.420 x H1.250 x dia0.048in. @fat_mcnasty @jestertoo Attached File |

Originally Posted By withoutremorse42: im really curious what it would cost to send each of the 3d printed pieces to chyna to have them made from steel I had the striker cam printed in cobalt-chrome (harder than stainless, cheaper than titanium) and for funziez I put the model for the main housing in there and it came to $3586 for one in stainless, $7465 for one in titanium. This was before shipping, however if you get multiples of a piece the price drops due to the setup being a chunk of the cost, so if one was to order 2 titanium receivers, the cost drops to a very affordable $6819/ea

I bought them in bulk as it was the same cost as buying a much smaller amount. According to the tracking number I should have them in hand early next week. If anyone wants a set of 6 I can do that for $20 plus a small USPS envelope and the ride which should be less than half what they want for them. Anyone interested can PM me. |

I made a rail kit for my 1337. If anyone wants the step or alibre file let me know. Attached File Attached File Also you can sort of see the stainless Safe ramp switch. With the heavy springs, you are gonna want a hard ramp switch. |
